The Huracan is the most affordable vehicle in Lamborghini’s sports car lineup, though of course, “affordable” is relative to the high-end exotic segment. The Huracan was introduced in 2014 and refreshed for 2020, including a name change to the Huracan Evo. For 2021, a new rear-wheel drive (RWD) convertible joins the lineup. There are numerous competitors in this segment, including straight sports cars as well as high-performance luxury cars from the likes of Audi, Ferrari, Porsche, McLaren, and Mercedes-AMG.

The Huracan’s exterior was refreshed for 2020, so nothing new is needed for 2021. The Huracan flaunts its updated front and rear end designs, which added visual interest as well as improved aerodynamics. The Spyder convertible model features a top that can be raised or lowered while driving at speeds up to 31 mph.

The Huracan Evo gets a 5.2-liter V10 engine rated for 602 horsepower with RWD and 630 horsepower with all-wheel drive (AWD), and 442 pound-feet of torque, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). Performance is aided by an active suspension system, rear-wheel steering, and four-wheel torque vectoring. The Huracan is rated for 13 mpg city, 18 highway, and 15 combined in all configurations of body style and drive type.

The Huracan Evo is one of those cars that helps you understand why some people refer to a car’s cabin as a cockpit: It’s clearly inspired by aeronautical design, with snug seating for two and a futuristic-looking gear selector. The Huracan gets an 8.4-inch touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay, gesture control, and navigation. An optional dual-camera telemetry system is great for track day statistics.

As is typical for a high-end sports car, the Huracan Evo has not been crash-tested. You’ll get a reversing camera and front and rear parking sensors.

The 2021 Lamborghini Huracan Evo is a great choice in its segment, regardless of how you’d choose to configure it. Aside from the new RWD Spyder, not much has changed, but nothing really needs to, either.
