CarGurus Analysis: 2021 INFINITI Q50
overall

Summary
With 359 currently listed for sale and an average price of $21,577, 23.4% of 2021 INFINITI Q50s for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2021 INFINITI Q50 4.5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6.83 / 10.
59.9% of 2021 Q50 models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2021 INFINITI Q50 stands out as a sports sedan that still leans hard into style and performance, even as its age shows. Infiniti says the Q50 was introduced for the 2014 model year, and for 2021 it receives only mild updates: a new Sensory trim level, more driver-assist tech, and a built-in WiFi hotspot. That combination gives it some modern convenience, but the car’s overall character remains rooted in an older formula.
What makes the 2021 INFINITI Q50 appealing is the breadth of its lineup and its performance focus. Infiniti offers Pure, Luxe, Sensory, and Red Sport 400 trim levels, along with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The available Red Sport 400 is described as the sportiest version, and the test-drive data also points to a powerful engine and stylish design as key strengths. At the same time, the Q50’s drawbacks are hard to ignore: the back seat is cramped, the technology feels outdated, and it is presented as poor value for money.

Love my Q50 red sport. The power in this vehicle is amazing and perfect for the price! Still a luxury vehicle all while still being a sports car. Handling is amazing so happy with my purchase. The only thing I’m missing is my Apple car play. Which came after the 2019 models.

How much does the 2021 INFINITI Q50 cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $21,553 |
| Year-Round Low | $21,517 |
| Year-Round High | $24,913 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $24,911 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −13.48% |
Prices have softened 13.48% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 360 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
Is the 2021 INFINITI Q50 a good car?
Yes — the 2021 INFINITI Q50 earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 6.83/10 expert rating.
The standout strength is Look and feel at 8/10.
Owners consistently praise the powerful performance, the classy interior, and the engaging handling and ride quality. The review summary also points to the impressive 400-horsepower engine as a major draw, along with the car’s sporty-luxury character.
The trade-offs are clear: the technology feels outdated, some owners miss features like Apple CarPlay in earlier versions, and cabin noise can be a concern.
That fits the Q50’s role as a style-and-performance sedan rather than a cutting-edge luxury pick, and the market still shows 24.4% good or great deals, which suggests there are worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.
Is the 2021 INFINITI Q50 reliable?
Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a car you can count on for strong performance and a generally satisfying ownership experience, with repeated praise for the engine, ride quality, and overall driving feel. That kind of feedback matters when you’re evaluating a used luxury sedan, because it suggests the car delivers a consistent experience over time.
The expert notes also reinforce that dependable, solid feel on the road, with the chassis described as composed and stable at speed. Infiniti’s four-year, 60,000-mile basic warranty and six-year, 70,000-mile powertrain warranty also help frame the ownership picture.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the Q50’s age and dated technology may matter more as mileage climbs, so condition and maintenance history should carry extra weight.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 INFINITI Q50?
At 58.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and make sure any prior damage is fully documented. A pre-purchase inspection is especially important here, since you’ll want to confirm that the car’s mechanical condition matches its appearance and mileage. Pay close attention to signs of uneven wear, repair quality, and whether the electronics and driver-assist features work as expected.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: Pure and Luxe models are the key value-oriented choices, while Sensory and Red Sport 400 add more visual and equipment upgrades. The base trim is the one most likely to leave you wanting more standard convenience and safety content.
- Powertrain: Every Q50 uses a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 with a seven-speed automatic transmission. Most models make 300 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, while the Red Sport 400 raises output to 400 hp and 350 lb-ft.
- Safety package: Forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking are standard. Adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, and the Around View Monitor 360-degree camera system are tied to the Luxe trim, and models with Direct Adaptive Steering also get Active Lane Control.
- Infotainment: The standard setup includes 8-inch upper and 7-inch lower touchscreens, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, Bluetooth, and SiriusXM satellite radio. Sensory and Red Sport 400 models also get a 16-speaker Bose audio system.
- Fuel efficiency: Most rear-wheel-drive models are rated at 23 mpg combined, while AWD versions are rated at 22 mpg combined. The Red Sport 400 is rated at 22 mpg combined with rear-wheel drive and loses 1 mpg in the city with AWD.
Which 2021 INFINITI Q50 trim should I buy?
The 2021 INFINITI Q50 is offered in 4 trim levels: Pure, Luxe, Sensory, and Red Sport 400.
Here's the short version:
- Pure: This is the entry point, and it makes the most sense if you want the lowest starting price and are comfortable with a simpler equipment list. It gives you the Q50’s core performance and style without paying for the higher-trim extras.
- Luxe: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the safety and convenience upgrades that make the Q50 easier to live with, including adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, and the Around View Monitor 360-degree camera system.
- Sensory: This trim adds more premium presentation and includes the 16-speaker Bose audio system, making it a good fit if you want a more upscale feel without jumping all the way to the top performance model.
- Red Sport 400: This is the sportiest version, with the 400-horsepower engine, red brake calipers, 19-inch wheels, carbon-fiber exterior touches, and a more aggressive front bumper. It suits you best if performance is your priority and you’re willing to pay for it.
Safety equipment is not evenly spread across the lineup, so the Luxe trim is the key step up if you want the most useful driver-assistance features.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 INFINITI Q50?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop, compare, and wait for the right listing.
- Deal availability: 24.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 360 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 13.48% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 58.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $21,517, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 INFINITI Q50's resale value?
The current average of $21,553 sits slightly below last year's $24,911.
That decline suggests the Q50 has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the current pricing trend means you should expect the market to remain value-sensitive, especially because shoppers can compare this car against newer rivals with fresher tech.
The good news is that the Q50 still has appeal for buyers who want strong performance and a distinctive luxury-sport character. That helps support demand, especially when the car is well maintained and priced competitively.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2021 INFINITI Q50 safe?
The 2021 Infiniti Q50 received top Good scores in all Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) crash tests, but Average and Marginal ratings for headlights. At the time of publication, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) hadn’t released full safety ratings for the 2021 Q50, only showing five-star ratings in rollover crash tests.
It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.
Forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking are standard. To get adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, and the Around View Monitor 360-degree camera system, you need to move up from the Pure trim to the Luxe trim. Models with Direct Adaptive Steering also get Active Lane Control.
The main caveat is the headlight performance, which trails the rest of the crash-test results. That makes trim choice and feature content especially important if safety is high on your list.
Should I buy a 2021 INFINITI Q50 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 24.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 58.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 13.48% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2021 model adds a new Sensory trim level, more driver-assist tech, and a built-in WiFi hotspot.
The bottom line: If you want the Q50’s strongest mix of price, performance, and owner satisfaction, the 2021 model is the one to target. If you’re shopping mainly for the newest-feeling tech or a more modern luxury experience, you may want to compare it against other years or newer alternatives. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2021 still makes sense when you find a clean, well-priced example with the features you want.
