CarGurus Analysis: 2021 INFINITI Q50
overall

Summary
With 383 currently listed for sale and an average price of $22,033.00, 26.6% of 2021 INFINITI Q50s for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2021 INFINITI Q50 4.5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6.83 / 10.
59.5% of 2021 Q50 models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2021 INFINITI Q50 stands out as a sports sedan that still leans hard into style and performance, even as age shows through in its technology and overall value. Infiniti’s own test-drive notes describe it as a car that “defies age, but still shows flaws,” which fits the Q50’s appeal: it looks and feels sporty, but it is no longer the freshest choice in its class. The available trim lineup includes Pure, Luxe, Sensory, and Red Sport 400, and buyers can choose rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive.
For 2021, Infiniti kept the changes modest. The updates are limited to a new Sensory trim level, more driver-assist tech, and a built-in WiFi hotspot. That makes the Q50 feel more current than before, but the broader impression remains one of a sedan that has been around for a while. Its strengths are clear in the test-drive data: stylish design, a powerful engine, and multiple powertrain options. Owner feedback reinforces that performance-first character, with praise for the powerful driving experience and the 400-horsepower engine.
At the same time, the Q50’s drawbacks are just as visible. The test-drive data calls out a cramped back seat, poor value for money, and outdated technology. That mix helps define the 2021 INFINITI Q50: it is appealing if you want a handsome, quick luxury sedan with a sporty personality, but it asks buyers to accept compromises in space, tech, and overall freshness.

Love my Q50 red sport. The power in this vehicle is amazing and perfect for the price! Still a luxury vehicle all while still being a sports car. Handling is amazing so happy with my purchase. The only thing I’m missing is my Apple car play. Which came after the 2019 models.

Is the 2021 INFINITI Q50 a good car?
Yes — the 2021 INFINITI Q50 earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 6.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 8/10.
Owners consistently praise the powerful performance, the classy interior, and the sporty driving feel. The 400-horsepower engine is a recurring highlight, and the handling and ride quality also come through as major positives.
The trade-offs are just as clear: the technology feels outdated, some owners miss features like Apple CarPlay in earlier versions, and cabin noise can be a concern. That lines up with the Q50’s overall mission as a style-and-performance sedan rather than a cutting-edge luxury pick.
For you, that means the Q50 makes the most sense if you want a sporty luxury sedan with strong personality and can live with some age in the cabin experience. 24.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there is still some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2021 INFINITI Q50 reliable?
Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with repeated praise for the powerful engine, the sporty driving character, and the kind of performance that makes the car feel like something you can count on day to day. The same feedback also suggests the Q50 has enough long-term appeal to keep owners engaged over time.
The test-drive notes reinforce that sense of durability through the car’s solid highway feel and composed chassis. Infiniti also backs the car with a four-year, 60,000-mile basic warranty and a six-year, 70,000-mile powertrain warranty.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright dependability and more about living with an aging luxury sedan whose tech and refinement may feel behind newer rivals.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 INFINITI Q50?
At 61.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example or a car with a price that looks unusually attractive. Pay close attention to bodywork consistency, signs of prior repair, and whether the car’s equipment matches the trim level being advertised.
The Q50’s age also makes condition more important than mileage alone, so focus on how well the interior, electronics, and drivetrain have held up. A clean-looking listing can still hide expensive issues if it has had prior damage or deferred maintenance.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: Pure models are the most basic, while Luxe adds adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, and an Around View Monitor 360-degree camera system. Pure also misses the extra safety equipment that comes with the higher trim.
- Powertrain: Every model uses a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 with a seven-speed automatic transmission. Most versions make 300 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, while Red Sport 400 models make 400 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque.
- Safety package: Forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking are standard. Adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, and the 360-degree camera system are added on Luxe, and models with Direct Adaptive Steering also get Active Lane Control.
- Infotainment: The system uses 8-inch upper and 7-inch lower touchscreens, and it includes Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, Bluetooth, and SiriusXM satellite radio. The screens are standard across the range, and Q50 Sensory and Red Sport 400 models add a 16-speaker Bose audio system.
- Fuel efficiency: Most rear-wheel-drive models are rated at 23 mpg combined, 20 mpg city, and 29 mpg highway. All-wheel-drive versions are rated at 22 mpg combined, 19 mpg city, and 27 mpg highway. Red Sport 400 models are rated at 22 mpg combined, 20 mpg city, and 26 mpg highway with rear-wheel drive, and AWD drops city fuel economy by 1 mpg.
Which 2021 INFINITI Q50 trim should I buy?
The 2021 INFINITI Q50 is offered in 4 trim levels: Pure, Luxe, Sensory, Red Sport 400.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: Pure is the entry point, but it leaves out adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, and the 360-degree camera system that you get on Luxe.
- Sweet-spot trim: Luxe is the best value if you want the most important everyday upgrades, because it adds the key driver-assistance features and the Around View Monitor without jumping all the way to the sportier trims.
- Premium/top trim: Red Sport 400 is the performance pick, with the 400-horsepower version of the twin-turbo V6, red brake calipers, 19-inch wheels, and a sportier front bumper.
- Off-road trim: Not applicable for this model.
The safety-package step up from Pure to Luxe is the most important trim note if you want the best balance of price and equipment.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 INFINITI Q50?
This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.
- Deal availability: 24.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 386 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 12.77% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 61.1% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $21,891.01, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 INFINITI Q50's resale value?
The current average of $21,919 sits slightly below last year's $25,127.
That price movement suggests the Q50 has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. If you shop carefully now, you may have less downside left than a buyer who paid closer to original market levels.
The flip side is that the car’s aging technology and mixed value perception can limit how quickly it rebounds in the used market. Strong condition, desirable equipment, and a clean history will matter more than ever when it is time to resell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2021 INFINITI Q50 safe?
The 2021 Infiniti Q50 received top “Good” scores in all Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) crash tests, but “Average” and “Marginal” ratings for headlights. At the time of publication, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) hadn’t released full safety ratings for the 2021 Q50, only showing five stars in rollover crash tests.
It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.
Forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking are standard. If you move up from Pure to Luxe, you also get adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, and an Around View Monitor 360-degree camera system.
Models with Direct Adaptive Steering also get Active Lane Control, which helps keep the car centered in its lane. The main caveat is that the Q50 does not offer the more advanced driver-assistance suite found on some rivals, and the headlight ratings are a weak point.
Should I buy a 2021 INFINITI Q50 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 24.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 61.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 12.77% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2021 model adds a new Sensory trim level, more driver-assist tech, and a built-in WiFi hotspot.
The bottom line: If you want the freshest version of this long-running Q50 formula, the 2021 model is the one to target because it adds useful updates without changing the car’s core strengths. If your priority is simply getting the lowest possible entry price, a nearby older year may be worth a look, but the 2021 gives you the best mix of updated equipment and softened pricing.
