CarGurus Analysis: 2021 INFINITI Q50
overall

Summary
With 347 currently listed for sale and an average price of $21,514, 23.3% of 2021 INFINITI Q50s for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2021 INFINITI Q50 4.5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6.83 / 10.
57.9% of 2021 Q50 models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2021 INFINITI Q50 stands out as a sports sedan that still leans hard into style and performance, even as its age shows. Infiniti says the Q50 was introduced for the 2014 model year, and for 2021 it receives only mild updates: a new Sensory trim level, more driver-assist tech, and a built-in WiFi hotspot. That combination gives it some modern convenience, but the car’s overall character remains rooted in an older formula.
What makes the 2021 INFINITI Q50 appealing is the breadth of its lineup and its performance focus. Infiniti offers Pure, Luxe, Sensory, and Red Sport 400 trim levels, along with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The available Red Sport 400 is described as the sportiest version, and the test-drive data also points to a powerful engine and stylish design as key strengths. At the same time, the Q50’s drawbacks are hard to ignore: the back seat is cramped, the technology feels outdated, and it is presented as poor value for money.

Love my Q50 red sport. The power in this vehicle is amazing and perfect for the price! Still a luxury vehicle all while still being a sports car. Handling is amazing so happy with my purchase. The only thing I’m missing is my Apple car play. Which came after the 2019 models.

How much does the 2021 INFINITI Q50 cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $21,483 |
| Year-Round Low | $21,483 |
| Year-Round High | $24,864 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $24,869 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −13.62% |
Prices have softened 13.62% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 350 listings available, which suggests you have a workable amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2021 INFINITI Q50 a good car?
Yes — with a 4.5/5 user rating and a 6.83/10 expert rating, the 2021 INFINITI Q50 lands as a strong choice if you want style and performance first. The standout strength is Look and feel at 8/10.
Owners consistently praise the powerful performance, classy interior, and the impressive 400-hp engine. They also like the handling and ride quality, which helps the car feel sporty without giving up its luxury-sedan character.
The trade-offs are the outdated technology and some missing features in earlier versions, along with complaints about cabin noise and pricing transparency. That lines up with the overview: you’re looking at a sedan that still leans hard into performance and style, but its age shows in everyday usability.
Only 24.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market is somewhat selective rather than deeply discounted.
Is the 2021 INFINITI Q50 reliable?
Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback points to a car that feels dependable and trouble-free enough for many owners to recommend, especially when you factor in the strong performance and solid driving feel. The expert evaluation also describes the Q50 as a solid used-car choice when discounted, which supports the idea that it can be a sensible long-term buy if you choose carefully.
Infiniti backs the car with a four-year, 60,000-mile basic warranty and a six-year, 70,000-mile powertrain warranty, which adds some ownership reassurance. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that age-related wear and dated tech can make a neglected example feel more frustrating than its mechanical reputation suggests.
What should I look for when buying a used 2021 INFINITI Q50?
At 58% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage or lower-priced example. Focus on condition, prior repairs, and whether the car’s equipment still works as intended, since the Q50’s age and tech complexity can make neglected examples less satisfying.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: Pure and Luxe are the key entry points, but the Luxe adds important equipment over the base trim, including adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, and an Around View Monitor 360-degree camera system. If you want the best balance of features and value, the Luxe is the trim to focus on.
- Powertrain: Every Q50 uses a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 with a seven-speed automatic transmission. Most models make 300 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, while the Red Sport 400 raises output to 400 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque.
- Safety package: Forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking are standard. The available driver-assistance suite expands on the Luxe trim with adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, and the Around View Monitor 360-degree camera system.
- Infotainment: The standard setup includes 8-inch upper and 7-inch lower touchscreens, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone connectivity, Bluetooth, and SiriusXM satellite radio. Q50 Sensory and Red Sport 400 models also get a 16-speaker Bose audio system.
- Fuel efficiency: Most rear-wheel-drive models are rated at 23 mpg combined, while all-wheel-drive versions are rated at 22 mpg combined. The Red Sport 400 is rated at 22 mpg combined with rear-wheel drive and 21 mpg combined with all-wheel drive.
Which 2021 INFINITI Q50 trim should I buy?
The 2021 INFINITI Q50 is offered in 4 trim levels: Pure, Luxe, Sensory, Red Sport 400.
Here's the short version:
- Pure: This is the entry point, but it’s also the trim where you give up some of the convenience and driver-assist equipment that makes the Q50 easier to live with. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and are comfortable with a more basic setup.
- Luxe: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the most important everyday upgrades, including adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, and the Around View Monitor 360-degree camera system. If you want the smartest buy, start here.
- Sensory: This trim adds a more upscale feel and includes the 16-speaker Bose audio system, making it a good fit if you want more comfort and sound-system appeal without jumping all the way to the top performance model.
- Red Sport 400: This is the sportiest version, with the 400-hp engine, red brake calipers, 19-inch wheels, carbon-fiber exterior accents, and the more aggressive front bumper. Choose it if performance is your priority and you’re willing to pay for it.
The Luxe trim is the one that most clearly fills in the Q50’s safety and convenience gaps, while the higher trims add more luxury or performance rather than essential everyday equipment.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 INFINITI Q50?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully but not so much that every listing is a bargain.
- Deal availability: 24.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 350 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 13.62% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 58.0% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $21,483, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2021 INFINITI Q50's resale value?
The current average of $21,483 sits slightly below last year's $24,869.
That price movement suggests the Q50 has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price today. If you purchase near the current average or below it, you may have less downside left than someone who bought when prices were higher.
The model’s appeal to shoppers who want strong performance and a distinctive luxury-sedan look can help support demand, especially for cleaner, better-equipped examples. But resale will still depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim, since the car’s dated tech can narrow the buyer pool.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2021 INFINITI Q50 safe?
The 2021 Infiniti Q50 received top “Good” scores in all Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) crash tests, but “Average” and “Marginal” ratings for headlights.
It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.
Forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking are standard. To get adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, and the Around View Monitor 360-degree camera system, you need to move up from the base Pure trim to the Luxe trim.
Q50 models with Direct Adaptive Steering also get Active Lane Control, which helps keep the car centered in its lane. The main caveat is that the Q50 doesn’t offer the more advanced safety tech found in some rivals, and the headlight ratings are a weak spot.
Should I buy a 2021 INFINITI Q50 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2021 if:
- 24.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 58% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 13.62% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2021 model adds a new Sensory trim level, more driver-assist tech, and a built-in WiFi hotspot.
The bottom line: If you want the Q50’s strongest mix of price, performance, and available equipment, the 2021 is the right year to target. If you’re shopping mainly for the newest-feeling tech or the most modern safety and infotainment experience, you may want to compare it carefully against other years or other luxury sedans. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2021 can still make sense if you focus on a clean, well-equipped example and avoid overpaying for dated tech.
