At 67.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report to confirm accident records, title status, and ownership history. Should I buy a 2020 Volkswagen Jetta or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 67.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.86% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $13,016, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $14,802 average.
• It offers a more upscale feel and a rewarding driving experience.

The bottom line: Choose the 2020 if you want the stronger current-market balance of price, inventory, and owner satisfaction. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2019 is the better secondary path, especially if you find one in excellent condition and can live with the older-year tradeoff.
