Summary

Why it stands out
The 2020 Nissan Titan stands out as a more convincing full-size pickup than Nissan has managed in the past, with the test-drive summary calling it a worthy alternative in the segment. For 2020, Nissan made major strides in technology, safety, and overall value, which helps the Titan feel more competitive than before. It also earns praise for its powerful engine and spacious cabin, two traits that should matter to buyers who want a truck that can handle daily use without feeling cramped.
At the same time, the Titan is not without drawbacks. The test-drive data still points to outdated technology and uninspired styling, so its improvements do not erase every weakness. Even so, the 2020 Titan’s mix of stronger capability, added value, and roominess gives it a clearer identity for shoppers who want a full-size pickup that is easier to recommend than earlier versions.

The Titan is the value in the truck world. It comes standard with loads of saftey tech, a powerful engine, and quick shifting transmission. It is not as good as a top line Ford, GM , or Ram. Those trucks, which will be marginally better, run 10-15k more. You can easily spend 60k on an xlt f 150 and not get leather seats. 60k puts you into the Plantinum Reserve territory for the Titan.

Love the smooth transition from any speed, and the power. Very comfortable and well appointed. For a powerful V-8 and full size truck , I think it gets good gas mileage too. Lots of interior storage space, and overall well designed. Trading up from an extended cab 2002 F-250, so quite a jump all around. Choose the Titan from reviews and articles. The other trucks I considered were the Ram and Tundra, but very happy with this.

How much does the 2020 Nissan Titan cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $25,892 |
| Year-Round Low | $25,892 |
| Year-Round High | $30,441 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $30,452 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −14.97% |
Prices have softened 14.97% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 897 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and equipment.
Is the 2020 Nissan Titan a good car?
Yes — the 2020 Nissan Titan earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.
Owners consistently praise the powerful engine, high-quality interior, and value for the price. They also highlight the smooth driving experience and the numerous features available for the price.
On the downside, the expert review points to outdated technology and uninspired styling. Even so, the Titan’s stronger tech, safety, and value for 2020 make it a more convincing full-size pickup than earlier versions, especially if you want a truck that can handle daily use without feeling cramped.
The market shows 34.4% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.
Is the 2020 Nissan Titan reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback points to a truck that feels reliable, dependable, and trouble-free in everyday use, with owners also emphasizing its long-term value and ability to count on it for regular driving. The expert review adds that the Titan’s 5-year/100,000-mile warranty goes well beyond rivals’ coverage, which is a meaningful ownership perk.
The Titan’s stronger safety structure and standard driver assists help reduce day-to-day ownership stress, but used buyers should still verify maintenance history and overall condition before committing.
What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Nissan Titan?
At 71% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a close inspection of body panels, paint consistency, and signs of prior repair. Focus on how the truck presents inside and out, since the Titan’s value proposition depends heavily on condition and equipment. If you’re comparing listings, pay extra attention to whether the truck has the features you want, because trim and package content can change the ownership experience a lot.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The lower trims use black grille treatment with a body-color surround, while upper trims get all-chrome treatment and the Pro-4X adds gray accents with red details. The lower-trim truck in the review also lacked the upgraded lighting and tailgate finishers, so base versions can feel plainer than the better-equipped models.
- Powertrain: The Titan uses a 5.6-liter V8 with 400 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque, paired with a new 9-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive comes standard, with 4-wheel drive and a low-range transfer case optional on all trims.
- Safety package: Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard and includes front and rear automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, and auto high beams. Adaptive cruise control, a driver-attention monitor, traffic-sign recognition, and 360-degree cameras are optional.
- Infotainment: The Titan offers an 8- or 9-inch touchscreen, and the 9-inch display is the one to get. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard with the 9-inch screen, and the system also supports over-the-air updates.
- Fuel efficiency: The expert review says EPA ratings were not yet available, though it notes 16 mpg over a 500-mile week.
Which 2020 Nissan Titan trim should I buy?
The 2020 Nissan Titan is offered in 4 trim levels: S, SV, Pro-4X, Platinum Reserve.
Here's the short version:
- S: This is the entry point, but the review makes clear that lower trims can feel plain, especially compared with the better-equipped versions. It makes sense if you want the Titan’s core V8 capability at the lowest starting point.
- SV: This is the best-value trim. The expert review specifically recommends the SV King Cab 4WD, and the SV Convenience package adds extra technology and interior amenities. If you want the strongest balance of price, equipment, and everyday usefulness, this is the trim to target.
- Pro-4X: This trim gets the off-road-themed styling treatment with gray accents and red details, plus blacked-out badges and red tow hooks. Choose it if you want the more rugged appearance and the added visual distinction.
- Platinum Reserve: This is the most upscale version, with chrome exterior treatment and the most premium presentation in the lineup. It suits you if you want the most polished Titan experience.
The Safety Shield 360 suite is standard, which is a strong plus across the lineup.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Nissan Titan?
The market looks selective but workable for a buyer who is ready to compare listings carefully.
- Deal availability: 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 897 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 14.97% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 71.0% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $25,892, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2020 Nissan Titan's resale value?
The current average of $25,892 sits slightly below last year's $30,452.
That price drop suggests the Titan has become more accessible to used buyers, which can help you enter the market at a lower cost. For a future seller, the softer pricing means you may need to be more competitive when it’s time to list. Condition, mileage, and equipment will matter even more if you want to protect value.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2020 Nissan Titan safe?
The 2020 Titan has not yet been tested by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard and includes front and rear automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, and auto high beams. A rear-door alert also comes standard. Adaptive cruise control, a driver-attention monitor, traffic-sign recognition, and 360-degree cameras are optional.
The expert review also notes that Nissan improved the body structure and added standard driver assists, along with two additional airbags and two more rear seatbelt pre-tensioners. That said, some helpful safety tech still requires optional equipment.
Should I buy a 2020 Nissan Titan or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2020 if:
- 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 71% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 14.97% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2020 brings major strides in technology, safety, and overall value.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $29,074, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $25,892 average.
- It carries the 2020 updates forward with a strong mix of standard power, technology, and safety.
The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2020 is the smarter buy because pricing has softened and the truck gained meaningful improvements. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model-year listing, the 2021 is the cleaner alternative, but the 2020 gives you the stronger price advantage right now.
