Used 2020 Nissan Frontier for Sale near Massachusetts

How much does the 2020 Nissan Frontier cost?

Prices have softened 5.56% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 868 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Nissan Frontier a good car?

Generally — the 2020 Nissan Frontier earns a 4.44/5 user rating and a 5/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

Owners commonly praise its comfortable ride, handling, and power, and they also appreciate the straightforward, no-frills design. The trade-offs are the outdated tech options and the small cargo bed. In context, that makes the Frontier a better fit if you want a simple pickup with a rugged personality rather than a modern, feature-rich truck.

Only 33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market still rewards careful shopping.

Is the 2020 Nissan Frontier reliable?

Owners rate it 4.44/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a truck that feels comfortable, dependable, and easy to count on, with a straightforward design that many buyers appreciate over time. On the expert side, the truck’s new engine and transmission are described as smooth and refined, with strong acceleration and clean shifts that support everyday dependability. The first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the truck’s age shows up in its safety and technology, so condition and maintenance history matter more than usual.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Nissan Frontier?

At 65.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a close inspection of body panels, frame areas, and signs of prior repair. Because the Frontier’s appeal depends so much on condition, you’ll want to focus on how well the truck has been maintained and whether any accident damage affected the structure or drivability. A pre-purchase inspection is especially worthwhile if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with visible cosmetic wear.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The King Cab and Crew Cab body styles differ in cabin and bed layout, and the PRO-4X stands out with a tube-style roof rack, unique 16-inch alloy wheels, knobby white-lettered tires, a standard spray-in bedliner, and bedside graphics. Base S trims are much simpler, while SV adds more equipment and available packages.
• Powertrain: The truck uses a 3.8-liter V6 with 310 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. It replaces the older V6 and four-cylinder setup, and the new drivetrain is described as smooth, refined, and strong in acceleration.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes a reversing camera, antilock brakes, traction control, and stability control. There are no modern driver-assistance features beyond that, so the safety package is very limited.
• Infotainment: The Frontier PRO-4X uses a 5.8-inch touchscreen with NissanConnect Apps, satellite radio, navigation, voice recognition, and a 10-speaker Rockford Fosgate audio system. It does not have Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
• Fuel efficiency: The new engine improves fuel economy by 1 mpg in combined driving for RWD models and 2 mpg for 4WD models. The test loop returned 19.3 mpg, versus an EPA estimate of 19 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2020 Nissan Frontier trim should I buy?

The 2020 Nissan Frontier is offered in 3 trim levels: S, SV, PRO-4X.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the most affordable path into the Frontier, especially if you want the truck’s basic capability and straightforward character without paying for extra equipment. It makes the most sense if you value price over features.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds more everyday usability and can be paired with packages like the Value Truck Package, Midnight Edition Package, Special Edition Package, and Utility Package depending on body style. If you want the sweet spot between cost and equipment, this is the one to focus on.
• PRO-4X: This is the trim to choose if you want the Frontier’s off-road personality, with Bilstein off-road shocks and the most distinctive appearance and hardware. It also brings the most premium-feeling cabin details in the lineup.

Safety equipment remains limited across the lineup, with only a reversing camera, antilock brakes, traction control, and stability control listed.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Nissan Frontier?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to shop carefully and move quickly on the right truck.

• Deal availability: 33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 868 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.56% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 65.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,836, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Nissan Frontier's resale value?

The current average of $21,322 sits slightly below last year's $22,578.

That decline suggests the Frontier has softened in the used market, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, though, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim appeal rather than on broad market momentum. Well-kept trucks with desirable equipment should hold up better than rougher examples.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.44/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Nissan Frontier safe?

The 2020 Nissan Frontier earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, with three-star ratings for the driver in frontal impact, two-star ratings for the front passenger in frontal impact, and a three-star rollover resistance rating for RWD models. It also earns a marginal rating in the IIHS small overlap frontal-impact test and a poor rating for headlights.

It earns a 1/10 safety score from our experts.

The Frontier’s safety equipment is limited to a reversing camera, antilock brakes, traction control, and stability control. That means you do not get the modern driver-assistance suite many newer midsize pickups offer, and the crash-test results reinforce that shortcoming.

Should I buy a 2020 Nissan Frontier or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.56% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.44/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 model stands out for its brand-new engine and transmission, which give the old Frontier a much stronger powertrain than earlier versions.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest version of this generation’s Frontier, the 2020 model is the one to target because it combines the updated powertrain with the year’s current market pricing. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may still make sense, but you should expect to give up some of the 2020 model’s powertrain advantage.
