At 63.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with accident records. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus your condition check on bodywork, alignment, interior wear, and signs of inconsistent maintenance so you can avoid paying strong money for a compromised car.

Should I buy a 2020 Mazda MAZDA6 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 39.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.82% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.86/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $20,143, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $18,082 average.
• It adds a more polished, stylish feel with premium materials and a more rewarding driving character.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2020 is the smarter starting point because it combines strong owner satisfaction with a lower average price. If you can stretch your budget and want a newer model with a more refined presentation, the 2021 is the better secondary path.
