At 69.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage or repeated claims. Focus your condition check on signs of past repairs, uneven wear, and anything that suggests the car has not been maintained consistently.

The current average of $19,536 sits slightly below last year's $21,440.

That price movement suggests the model has softened, which can make it easier for future buyers to find value but may also limit upside for sellers. If you buy at the right price and keep the car in strong condition, you can help protect your position when it comes time to sell. Strong owner satisfaction can also support demand in the used market.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.83/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Lincoln MKZ or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 30.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 69.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.88% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.83/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of value, owner satisfaction, and current market softness, the 2020 is the primary year to target. If you're especially price-sensitive, you should also compare nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-documented example rather than chasing the lowest sticker price alone.
