How much does the 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Sport cost?

Prices have softened 15.30% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,061 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Sport a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Sport earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 10/10.

The overview and test-drive notes point to a stylish, premium-feeling luxury SUV with strong capability and an electrified powertrain that can deliver impressive fuel economy. It also fits buyers who want an upscale SUV that still aims to preserve traditional off-road ability.

The trade-offs are clear: cargo space is limited, the technology can be unintuitive, and value for money is weak. Even so, the market still shows 37.1% of listings as good or great deals, which helps offset some of those concerns.

Is the 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Sport reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview frames this as a premium SUV with strong capability and an upscale cabin, while the expert notes emphasize that it can deliver remarkably good fuel economy for a PHEV. The powertrain is described as a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine paired with an electric motor and battery, and the review says the SUV can run in EV mode when conditions allow.

The cost-effectiveness notes also point to a vehicle built around efficiency and short electric trips rather than outright savings. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a complex luxury plug-in hybrid can be more demanding to own if condition and charging behavior haven’t been well maintained.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Sport?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on a luxury plug-in hybrid with complex systems. Focus on how the vehicle drives, how the technology behaves, and whether the charging and hybrid functions operate as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The PHEV version starts with HSE trim, while the non-hybrid SE sits below it and the performance-tuned SVR sits above it. The base setup already brings premium presentation, but the content makes clear that the PHEV’s price rises quickly with trim and options.
• Powertrain: The PHEV combines a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder gasoline engine with a 141-hp electric motor and a 13-kWh battery for 398 horsepower and 472 pound-feet of torque. It also offers up to 31 miles of all-electric driving range, though the review notes that EV mode did not always behave as expected.
• Safety package: The optional Driver Assist Package adds steering-assist technology, and the SUV also includes lane-keeping assist. The review suggests those lane-discipline features can feel abrupt, so you should test them carefully.
• Infotainment: The InControl Touch Pro Duo system uses touchscreens, apps, voice commands, and gesture controls, but the review says it can be confusing and sometimes slow to respond. Expect a learning curve if you want to use it well.
• Fuel efficiency: The review recorded 41.9 mpg at one point during testing and 25.5 mpg over a 60-mile loop, which is strong for a vehicle of this size and type.

Which 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Sport trim should I buy?

The 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Sport is offered in 3 trim levels: HSE, SE, and SVR.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the lower-cost path into the Range Rover Sport lineup, and it makes sense if you want the nameplate’s core luxury and capability without stepping into the PHEV’s higher price. It is the value-oriented choice relative to the HSE and SVR.
• HSE: This is the best-value trim for the PHEV because it is the starting point for the electrified version and brings the upscale presentation that defines this model. If you want the plug-in hybrid experience, this is the trim to target first.
• SVR: This is the performance-tuned top end of the lineup, and it is for shoppers who want the most expensive, most aggressive version mentioned in the data.

The safety content notes that the optional Driver Assist Package adds steering-assist technology, so check whether a used example has that equipment if driver assistance matters to you.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Sport?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully.

• Deal availability: 37.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,061 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.30% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 76.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $28,642, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Sport's resale value?

The current average of $28,642 sits slightly below last year's $33,815.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may pressure future resale if you overpay today. If you buy near the current average or below, you reduce the risk of taking a bigger depreciation hit later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Sport safe?

The 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Sport earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The safety content says the SUV comes with lots of advanced driver-assistance systems, and it specifically mentions the optional Driver Assist Package with steering-assist technology. It also includes lane-keeping assist, though the review says both lane-discipline features can feel abrupt and may be worth testing carefully on a used example.

The same safety notes also point out a caveat: the vehicle can suffer from head-toss, and the steering-assist system can feel overly aggressive in curves. That means you should pay close attention to how the driver-assistance systems behave during your test drive.

Should I buy a 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Sport or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 37.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.30% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 stands out for its plug-in hybrid efficiency and traditional Land Rover capability.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $32,471, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $28,642 average.
• It adds broader versatility with multiple powertrains and available three-row seating.

The bottom line: Choose the 2020 if you want the lower entry price and the distinctive plug-in hybrid setup. Consider the 2021 if you want a newer version with more versatility and are willing to pay more for it.
