At 55.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

The current average of $12,784 sits slightly below last year's $14,408.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. If you plan to sell later, a lower purchase price can reduce your depreciation exposure. Strong demand from satisfied owners can also help support future resale interest.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2020 Kia Optima or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.27% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $11,752, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $12,784 average.
• It offers stylish looks, roomy space, and a broad feature set.

The bottom line: If you want the newer model year with a solid market position and strong owner satisfaction, the 2020 is the better default choice. If your priority is stretching your budget, the 2019 is the more price-conscious path and still gives you many of the same core strengths.
