You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage was repaired properly. Should I buy a 2020 Honda HR-V or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $19,244, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $18,781 average.
• It adds a more current-feeling package with updated wheel designs and privacy glass on the Sport.

The 2020 is the better path if you want the stronger value proposition and a more selective shopping opportunity. If you can stretch for the 2021, it may be worth it for buyers who want the newer model year and are comfortable paying a bit more. For price-sensitive shoppers, the 2020 remains the smarter buy when you find a clean example at the right price.
