overall

Summary
With 9,458 currently listed for sale and an average price of $28,770.00, 30.8% of 2020 Ford F-150s for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2020 Ford F-150 4.72 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.33 / 10.
78.3% of 2020 F-150 models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2020 Ford F-150 stands out as a full-size pickup that tries to balance everyday comfort with real work capability. It offers an accommodating and modern interior, comfortable road manners, and a lineup of engines that provide the power and torque needed to hold its own at the worksite. That combination makes it appealing to buyers who want a truck that can serve as a commuter, family hauler, and tow vehicle without feeling out of place in any of those roles.
It also brings some clear strengths beyond utility. The F-150 boasts outstanding tech and comfort features, and its stylish design helps it feel more polished than a purely work-focused truck. At the same time, it is not perfect: advanced safety features are not standard, and the interior materials feel cheap. Even so, the 2020 Ford F-150 remains distinctive because it delivers broad capability with a cabin and ride quality aimed at making daily use easier.

Reviewed a 2020 Ford F-150 on Oct 22, 2025
The 2020 Raptor gets almost everything right — performance, comfort, design, and capability. It’s not just a truck; it’s an experience. Every time I drive it, it reminds me why this model has such a loyal following. ⸻ What I Think of Its Features The twin-turbo 3.5 L EcoBoost engine delivers incredible power and torque, and the 10-speed transmission keeps it smooth whether you’re cruising the highway or tearing up dirt roads. The suspension is what truly sets it apart — it absorbs rough terrain like it’s nothing, but somehow still rides comfortably on pavement. Inside, it’s spacious, refined, and well-equipped. The technology and controls are intuitive, and even though it’s built for off-road performance, it doesn’t sacrifice daily comfort. It feels just as confident on a long trip as it does on a back trail. ⸻ Is It a Good Value? Yes — for the right driver. You’re paying for both capability and character. If you’ll actually use what it was built for — adventure, off-road travel, or simply having the most capable full-size truck on the road — then it’s worth every dollar. Of course, if you’re buying it just for city commuting, the value depends on how much you want the performance and presence. Fuel economy and tire wear are part of the trade-off, but the Raptor delivers something few trucks can: it makes driving fun again. ⸻ What It’s Missing No vehicle is perfect. The Raptor’s towing capacity isn’t as high as some other F-150 models, and it’s definitely a large truck to maneuver in tight parking lots. It also drinks more fuel than your average pickup, and parts like the suspension or tires cost more to replace. But for me, those drawbacks are minor compared to what it offers in power, confidence, and enjoyment. ⸻ What I’d Compare It To If you want to compare, the Ram 1500 TRX is the closest rival — louder, heavier, and a bit wilder. The Raptor, though, strikes a better balance between power and everyday drivability. I’d also compare it to the Chevy Silverado Trail Boss or GMC AT4 for someone who wants off-road ability without going full performance truck. ⸻ Overall The 2020 Raptor is one of those rare trucks that feels alive. It’s strong, capable, and surprisingly refined. Whether you’re driving across the country or exploring back roads, it’s a truck that makes you want to keep going. That’s why I gave it a perfect 5-star rating.

The picture is deceiving. It’s actually missing driver side running board. And the inside was very dirty. Back head rest was also missing.

Is the 2020 Ford F-150 a good car?
Yes — the 2020 Ford F-150 earns a 4.72/5 user rating and an 8.33/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Form and function.
Owners consistently praise its power, smooth ride, and interior comfort, and they also highlight the engine performance, especially the 3.5L EcoBoost and 5.0L V8 options. In use, that lines up well with the truck’s role as a commuter, family hauler, and tow vehicle.
The trade-offs are clear: advanced safety features are not standard, and the interior materials feel cheap. Even so, the F-150’s broad capability and comfortable road manners make it a strong fit if you want a full-size pickup that can handle daily driving and work duties without feeling out of place.
The market also looks healthy, with 30.8% of listings priced as good or great deals.
Is the 2020 Ford F-150 reliable?
Owners rate it 4.72/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a truck that feels dependable in everyday use, with praise for power, smooth ride quality, and comfort that supports long-term ownership. That kind of feedback matters when you want a used truck you can count on for commuting, hauling, and towing.
The expert evaluation also emphasizes the F-150’s durable, work-ready character and its comfortable road manners, which reinforces the sense that it is built for regular use over time. Ford’s first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house, which helps early ownership costs.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that condition can vary widely depending on how hard the truck was worked and how well it was maintained.
What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Ford F-150?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the history report carefully, because a truck’s past use can matter as much as its mileage. Prioritize a thorough inspection of the cabin, drivetrain, and any towing-related wear, and focus on overall condition rather than just trim level or equipment count.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The XL is the work-truck starting point with steel wheels, air conditioning, an AM/FM radio, manual locks, a 2.3-inch driver information display, and standard forward automatic emergency braking. The XLT adds 17-inch painted aluminum wheels, chrome bumpers and grille, cruise control, SYNC 3 infotainment, and a WiFi hotspot. The Lariat adds push-button start, leather-trimmed seats, heated power-folding side mirrors, an 8-inch color driver information display, dual-zone climate control, and power heated and cooled front seats. The King Ranch adds saddle-leather upholstery, special stitching, a Bang & Olufsen premium sound system, heated rear seats, and a remote release tailgate. The Platinum adds chrome badging, body-color bumpers, LED bed lighting and fog lamps, two wall-style power outlets, blue ambient lighting, and Multi-Contour Active Motion seats. The Raptor adds specialized off-road running gear. The Limited adds satin aluminum exterior details, 22-inch polished aluminum wheels, premium leather upholstery, and a dual-panel moonroof.
- Powertrain: You get a 3.3-liter V6 with 290 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque, a 2.7-liter turbocharged EcoBoost V6 with 325 hp and 400 lb-ft, a 5.0-liter V8 with 395 hp and 400 lb-ft, a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 with 375 hp and 470 lb-ft, and a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 with 250 hp and 440 lb-ft. The base V6 is fine for daily driving, while the stronger engines are better suited to towing and hauling.
- Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 includes automatic high beams, blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control. Forward automatic emergency braking is standard, including on the XL. A reverse sensing system is available on the base XL. Pro Trailer Backup Assist is also available.
- Infotainment: The XL has a basic AM/FM radio with an auxiliary input jack, and SYNC is optional with a touchscreen, USB ports, and voice recognition. The XLT adds SYNC 3 with an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, enhanced voice recognition, pinch-to-zoom map functionality, and smart-charging USB ports. FordPass with a 4G WiFi modem is available on XLT-and-up trims.
- Fuel efficiency: The turbodiesel with rear-wheel drive returns 21 mpg city, 29 highway, 24 combined. The 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 with rear-wheel drive returns 20 mpg city, 26 highway, 22 combined. The V8 returns 17 mpg city, 23 highway, 19 combined. The Raptor returns 15 mpg city, 18 highway, 16 combined.
Which 2020 Ford F-150 trim should I buy?
The 2020 Ford F-150 is offered in 7 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Raptor, and Limited.
Here's the short version:
- XL: This is the value-focused work-truck choice, but it is sparse on comfort and convenience equipment. It makes sense if you want the lowest entry point and can live with the basics.
- XLT: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds SYNC 3, an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, cruise control, chrome exterior touches, and a WiFi hotspot without jumping too far up the price ladder.
- Lariat: This is the sweet spot if you want a more upscale cabin, with leather-trimmed seats, heated and cooled front seats, dual-zone climate control, push-button start, and a stronger luxury feel without going all the way to the high-end trims.
- King Ranch: This trim leans into Western-themed style and adds premium audio, heated rear seats, and a remote release tailgate, so it suits you if comfort and personality matter as much as utility.
- Platinum: This is the more polished luxury step, with massaging front seats, ambient lighting, extra power outlets, and upscale exterior details.
- Raptor: This is the off-road-focused choice, with specialized running gear, a lifted suspension, Fox Racing Shox with live valve technology, skid plates, and terrain-specific drive modes.
- Limited: This is the top comfort-and-luxury pick, with premium leather, a dual-panel moonroof, 22-inch wheels, and distinctive satin aluminum exterior details.
Advanced safety features are not standard, so check carefully for the driver-assistance equipment you want on the trim you choose.

If you find a listing below $28,513.91, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2020 Ford F-150's resale value?
The current average of $28,687 sits slightly below last year's $30,688.
That price movement suggests the market has cooled enough to give you a better entry point now, but it also means future sellers may face some pressure if prices continue to soften. If you buy well and keep the truck in strong condition, you can help protect your exit value later.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.72/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2020 Ford F-150 safe?
The SuperCrew trucks received five-star ratings from NHTSA, while the SuperCab and regular cab earned four-star ratings. The SuperCrew also received top marks from IIHS in its various crash tests.
It earns a 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Ford Co-Pilot360 brings automatic high beams, blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control. Forward automatic emergency braking is standard, including on the XL, while a reverse sensing system is available on the base XL.
The main caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard across the lineup, so you should verify exactly which driver-assistance features are included on the truck you’re considering.
Should I buy a 2020 Ford F-150 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2020 if:
- 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 78.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.52% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.72/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It balances comfort, capability, and strong engine choices in a familiar full-size pickup package.
Consider the 2019 if:
- At $26,408, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $28,687 average.
- It offers a proven formula with modest updates rather than a full redesign.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $33,018, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $28,687 average.
- It adds a redesigned cabin, more technology, and an available hybrid powertrain.
The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, capability, and broad market availability, the 2020 is the smart middle ground. If your budget is tighter, the 2019 can save you money while keeping the same basic appeal. If you want newer tech and are willing to pay more, the 2021 is the upgrade path to consider.
