Used 2020 Ford Expedition for Sale nearNew Orleans, LA

How much does the 2020 Ford Expedition cost?

Prices have softened 14.13% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,436 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2020 Ford Expedition a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Ford Expedition earns a 4.79/5 user rating and an 8.67/10 expert rating.

The model scores 10/10 across Form and function and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its spacious cabin, luxurious feel, and powerful engine, and they also like the advanced features it brings to family use. The Expedition’s size and capability make it especially appealing if you need a large SUV that can carry people and gear with ease.

The trade-offs are clear: the technology feels outdated, and the interior materials can seem cheap for the price. Even so, the Expedition’s full-size utility makes it a strong fit if your priorities center on space, towing, and everyday versatility.

Good and great deals account for 36.9% of listings, so there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Ford Expedition reliable?

Owners rate it 4.79/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience centered on spaciousness, comfort, and strong performance. The engine and feature set also come through as strengths in day-to-day use, which supports confidence over the long haul.

The Expedition’s robust underlying engineering should help it stay on the road for years, but its size, fuel use, and premium pricing mean long-term ownership costs can still be substantial.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Ford Expedition?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a thorough inspection of the cabin, electronics, and wear items, especially if the SUV has seen heavy family or towing duty. Focus on overall condition, since this model’s value depends heavily on how well it has been maintained.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lower-level Expedition XLT has quite a bit of hard plastic, while the King Ranch and Platinum trims bring a more upscale cabin. If you want the best-value balance, the higher trims add more luxury feel, but the base trim’s material quality is a clear step down.
• Powertrain: Every 2020 Expedition uses a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 with 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive is standard, and four-wheel drive is optional.
• Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard and includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assistance. The system works well, though the lane warning vibration can be hard to distinguish from road vibration at times.
• Infotainment: The Expedition uses an 8-inch touchscreen with Sync 3, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, FordPass Connect with a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot, navigation, an available Bang & Olufsen premium sound system, rear-seat entertainment, and Pro Trailer Backup Assist. The setup is easy to use, but it feels dated.
• Fuel efficiency: The source notes 19 mpg as the official EPA rating and 17.7 mpg in testing with rear-wheel drive.

Which 2020 Ford Expedition trim should I buy?

The 2020 Ford Expedition is offered in 3 trim levels: XLT, King Ranch, Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• XLT: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Expedition’s core strengths without the higher trim pricing. It is the trim to consider if you want the most accessible way into the lineup, but you should expect the least upscale cabin materials.
• King Ranch: This trim adds a more distinctive, upscale look and feel, including special leather, unique exterior details, and standard adaptive damping suspension. It suits you best if you want a more luxurious Expedition and are willing to pay for it.
• Platinum: This is the other conventionally luxurious choice in the lineup, and it is the trim to consider if you want the most premium-feeling Expedition without leaning into the King Ranch’s western-themed styling.

Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard, so you get the core driver-assistance suite across the lineup.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Ford Expedition?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on strong listings.

• Deal availability: 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,436 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.13% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 75.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $26,265, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Ford Expedition's resale value?

The current average of $26,276 sits slightly below last year's $30,599.

That price drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. For a future seller, that also means resale value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle has been maintained.

Because the Expedition is a desirable full-size SUV with strong utility, well-kept examples should still attract interest. But if you buy high, the softer market trend could limit how much value you recover later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.79/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Ford Expedition safe?

The 2020 Ford Expedition earns five-star ratings in every NHTSA test plus a four-star rollover resistance rating.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford Co-Pilot360 is standard, and it includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assistance. The system is generally smooth, accurate, and subtle in use.

One caveat is that the lane-departure warning vibration can be hard to distinguish from road vibration at times. IIHS had not tested the Expedition at the time of review.

Should I buy a 2020 Ford Expedition or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.13% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.79/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines three-row comfort, strong towing ability, and standard Ford Co-Pilot360.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $30,561, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $26,276 average.
• It remains a competitive alternative for buyers who prioritize towing, cargo room, and passenger space.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2020 is the smarter buy because pricing has softened and inventory is healthy. If you are willing to spend more for a newer model-year alternative, the 2021 is worth considering for shoppers who want to stay in the Expedition family and can absorb the higher price.
