Used 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 for Sale nearPortland, OR

How much does the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 8.26% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 9,702 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for comparison shopping.

Is the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 a good car?

Yes — the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 7.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise the excellent fuel economy, smooth performance, and spacious interior. The truck also gets credit for being comfortable and offering multiple powertrain options, which helps it fit work, family, and everyday use.

The trade-offs are clear: advanced safety features are not standard, and value for money is a weak point. The Silverado’s broad appeal comes from its use-case flexibility, but you should expect some compromises if you want more equipment without moving up the trim ladder.

With 30.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s still room to shop carefully.

Is the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a truck that feels dependable in daily use, with praise for smooth performance, excellent fuel economy, and a spacious cabin. That combination suggests you can count on it for regular driving as well as heavier-duty tasks.

The expert review also reinforces that sense of durability through the truck’s broad powertrain lineup and work-ready character. Chevrolet’s first scheduled service is free of charge, which is a small ownership perk that can help early maintenance costs.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is uneven equipment and condition across listings, so service history and feature verification matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

At 72.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has been used for towing, off-roading, or heavy work. Pay close attention to body condition, camera functionality, cabin wear, and any signs that the truck’s equipment level doesn’t match the asking price.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Silverado’s trim spread includes WT (Work Truck), Custom, LT, RST, LTZ, and High Country, with body styles ranging from Regular Cab to Double Cab and Crew Cab. Base trims are more stripped down, while LTZ and High Country bring the most advanced driver-assistance features.
• Powertrain: You get a choice among multiple engines, including a new 3.0-liter turbodiesel 6-cylinder, plus broader availability of the turbocharged 2.7-liter 4-cylinder, 6.2-liter V8, and 10-speed automatic transmission. The diesel is noted for strong highway efficiency, and the 6.2-liter V8 is the recommended engine in the expert review.
• Safety package: The Silverado’s driver-assistance suite includes forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and camera-based adaptive cruise control on LTZ and High Country. Blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning can be added to LT and RST, but these features are not standard across the lineup.
• Infotainment: You’ll find a 7-inch or 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Chevrolet Connected Access services, and a 4G LTE WiFi hotspot. Available upgrades include navigation, wireless device charging, and a 7-speaker Bose premium sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: The diesel engine returns up to 27 mpg on the highway, and the test truck averaged 16.8 mpg in mixed driving.

Which 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is offered in 6 trim levels: WT (Work Truck), Custom, LT, RST, LTZ, and High Country.

Here's the short version:

• WT (Work Truck): This is the most basic path into the Silverado lineup, so it makes sense if you want the truck’s core capability and plan to keep costs down. It’s best if you care more about utility than comfort or advanced features.
• Custom: This trim adds a bit more everyday appeal while staying relatively accessible, and it’s also one of the trims that can be paired with the Trail Boss treatment. It suits you if you want a more personalized look without jumping too far upmarket.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it sits in the middle of the lineup and opens the door to more equipment and available features. It’s a smart choice if you want a balanced mix of comfort, capability, and price.
• RST: This trim leans more toward style and can also be equipped with added safety tech such as blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning. It fits you if you want a more polished appearance with useful upgrades.
• LTZ: This is where the Silverado’s advanced driver-assistance features become standard, including forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and camera-based adaptive cruise control. Choose it if safety tech matters most.
• High Country: This is the most upscale trim and also includes the full advanced safety suite. It makes sense if you want the most premium Silverado experience and are willing to pay for it.

The safety-package gap is important: the most advanced driver-assistance features are limited to LTZ and High Country, so lower trims require more careful shopping.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

This is a moderate market, so selective buyers can still find value if they shop carefully.

• Deal availability: 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,702 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.26% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 72.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $28,100, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500's resale value?

The current average of $28,100 sits slightly below last year's $30,629.

That price movement suggests the Silverado has softened enough to help used buyers today, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market. If you buy at the right price and keep the truck in strong condition, you’ll be better positioned to protect value later.

The Silverado’s broad popularity helps support demand, especially for well-equipped examples and desirable powertrains. But because prices have already moved down, resale gains are more likely to come from buying smart than from expecting appreciation.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 safe?

The 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA. In IIHS testing, it received a Marginal rating for the right-side small overlap front test, a Good rating on the left side, and Poor headlights.

It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.

The Silverado’s safety suite includes rear-seat reminder and Teen Driver as standard equipment. Forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and camera-based adaptive cruise control are limited to LTZ and High Country, while blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic warning can be added to LT and RST.

The main caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard, and the crash-test results are mixed enough that you should pay close attention to trim level and equipment.

Should I buy a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 72.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.26% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2020 adds a new 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine, broader powertrain availability, a bed-view camera, and camera-based adaptive cruise control.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $26,020, the 2019 costs less than the current year's $28,100 average.
• The 2019 is a redesigned truck with a comfortable ride, solid performance, and a spacious interior.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $30,675, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $28,100 average.
• The 2021 offers broad configurability, easy-to-use tech, and an especially notable Duramax turbodiesel option.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of updates and current-market pricing, the 2020 is the sweet spot. If your priority is saving money, the 2019 is the better value path. If you want more configuration breadth and are willing to pay more, the 2021 is worth a look.
