Is the 2019 Subaru Outback a good car?

Drivers consistently praise its smooth ride, roomy interior, and ample safety features. The review summary also highlights its usefulness in challenging climates, along with the kind of comfort and practicality that make it easy to live with day to day. That lines up well with its role as a practical, roomy vehicle with standard all-wheel drive and a strong safety story.

Is the 2019 Subaru Outback reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The review summary points to a dependable ownership experience, with drivers describing it as smooth, safe, and well suited to everyday use. It also suggests the kind of trouble-free confidence many shoppers want from a long-term vehicle, especially when they value comfort and all-weather capability.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that maintenance needs and wear items can matter more as mileage climbs, so condition and service history deserve close attention.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Subaru Outback?

At 72.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any damage was cosmetic or structural. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on body condition, panel alignment, and signs of uneven wear or repair work. Because some owners mention exterior scratches and oil maintenance between changes, it makes sense to pay extra attention to paint condition and service records.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Subaru Outback?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,939 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.91% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 72.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,417, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Subaru Outback's resale value?

The current average of $17,417 sits slightly below last year's $18,912.

That softer pricing can help you buy at a more favorable point, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays soft. If you plan to sell later, condition and mileage will matter a lot, especially because buyers tend to reward clean history and strong maintenance records. The Outback's broad appeal and practical reputation should still help it hold interest with shoppers looking for a capable, family-friendly used vehicle.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Subaru Outback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 72.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.91% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $15,531, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $17,417 average.
• It emphasizes practical comfort, safety, and versatility.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $20,234, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $17,417 average.
• It adds a more modern cabin and updated safety tech.

The bottom line: The 2019 is the best all-around pick if you want strong owner satisfaction, a softer price trend, and a broad selection of listings. If your priority is saving money, the 2018 is the better value path; if you want newer features and can spend more, the 2020 is the upgrade route.
