Summary
With 113 currently listed for sale and an average price of $16,354, 60.2% of 2019 Subaru Crosstrek listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.

Why it stands out
The 2019 Subaru Crosstrek stands out as a practical small crossover that blends everyday usability with Subaru’s familiar all-weather formula. It rides on an all-new platform with significantly improved structural rigidity, uses a direct-injected 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine rated at 152 horsepower, and keeps both a manual gearbox and a CVT in the lineup. It also benefits from Subaru’s latest ring-shaped reinforcement frame safety architecture and new EyeSight technologies, while Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available through the infotainment system. For buyers who want a compact SUV that feels simple, capable, and easy to live with, that combination is a big part of the Crosstrek’s appeal.
This model year also adds useful space and versatility. The second-generation Crosstrek is larger than the SUV it replaced, with more rear-seat legroom and cargo space that expands from 20.8 cu-ft to 55.5 cu-ft with the rear seats folded down. In 2019, Subaru brought back the Crosstrek Hybrid as a plug-in hybrid offering 17 miles of electric-only driving and 35 mpg in combined driving when using the gasoline engine. That hybrid version also had less cargo room than the gas-only Crosstreks, with 15.9 cu-ft behind the back seat and a maximum of 43.1 cu-ft, so shoppers who prioritize utility may prefer the standard model.
There are a few tradeoffs to keep in mind. The 2019 Crosstrek’s engine output is modest, and the CVT can add noise rather than urgency. Still, the Crosstrek’s mix of standard AWD, good fuel economy, strong safety credentials, and a reputation for being trouble-free in later second-generation years makes it an appealing used choice for buyers who value confidence and practicality over speed.

Love the acceleration power and comfort this car offers. Do not like the automated feature of correcting your driving when passing or getting close to a line in the road. I turned off that feature. But overall, I love this car!!

Like it the moment I bought it, and every time I get in it and drive it I like it even more. Took a couple of hours and studied all of the features and learned to use them all, so now I can do it blind. So far I do not have one negative thing to say about any aspect of the car.

Is the 2019 Subaru Crosstrek a good car?
Yes — the 2019 Subaru Crosstrek earns a 4.75/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its safety features, interior comfort, and reliable, enjoyable driving experience. For you, that makes it a strong fit if you want a practical small crossover that is easy to live with and well suited to everyday use. With 33.7% of listings priced as good or great deals, you also have a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.
Is the 2019 Subaru Crosstrek reliable?
Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback highlights that it is reliable, enjoyable to drive, and trouble-free in the ways that matter most to used-car shoppers. That kind of praise matters because it suggests the Crosstrek can be a sensible choice if you want a vehicle you can count on over time. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the model’s reputation and more about how well a specific example has been maintained.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Subaru Crosstrek?
At 68.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus your evaluation on overall condition, repair quality, and signs of wear that could affect long-term ownership costs.

What is the 2019 Subaru Crosstrek's resale value?
The current average of $17,349 sits slightly below last year's $18,466.
That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. If you plan to sell later, a lower purchase price can reduce your depreciation exposure. The Crosstrek’s steady owner satisfaction should also help support demand when it is time to resell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 68.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.05% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2018 if:
- At $15,913, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $17,349 average.
- It emphasizes rugged practicality and everyday versatility.
The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2019 if you want the newer model-year pricing context, strong owner satisfaction, and a healthy pool of listings to compare. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2018 is the better secondary path because it undercuts the current-year average while still delivering the Crosstrek’s core practicality.
