Used 2019 Subaru Ascent for Sale nearWichita, KS

How much does the 2019 Subaru Ascent cost?

Prices have softened 12.62% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,384 listings available, which suggests you have a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2019 Subaru Ascent a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Subaru Ascent earns a 4.8/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its comfort, safety features, stylish design, and family-friendly space. The Ascent is also framed as a practical three-row SUV for growing families, with standard all-wheel drive adding confidence in poor weather or on rougher roads.

The main trade-offs are a desire for more power and some reliability concerns from owners. The third row is also described as cramped, so it works best if you value overall family utility more than adult-sized space in the back.

Good and great deals account for 38.1% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2019 Subaru Ascent reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a vehicle that many drivers find comfortable and dependable for family use, with praise centered on its everyday livability and confidence-inspiring safety equipment. The expert evaluation also emphasizes that Subaru built the Ascent as a practical, family-focused SUV with standard all-wheel drive and a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty.

That said, some owners mention reliability concerns, so a careful pre-purchase inspection matters if you want to reduce long-term ownership risk.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Subaru Ascent?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully, because accident-free status does not replace a full records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the third row, interior wear, and how well the vehicle has been maintained. Since this is a family SUV, condition and evidence of regular care matter as much as mileage.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Base trim is well equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, satellite radio, Bluetooth connectivity, 4 USB ports, 19 cupholders, and 3-zone climate control with vents for all three rows. Premium adds a windshield de-icer, an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, upgraded stain-resistant cloth upholstery, 4G LTE Wi-Fi capability, second-row climate controls, an 8-inch touchscreen, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Limited adds 20-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights that respond to steering inputs, a power liftgate, leather seating, heated first- and second-row seats, a heated steering wheel, remote keyless entry with push-button start, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, additional second- and third-row USB ports, automatic high beams, and reverse automatic emergency braking. Touring adds satin chrome side mirrors with integrated turn signals, chrome door handles, ventilated front seats, woodgrain interior accent panels, an upgraded auto-dimming rear-view mirror with HomeLink buttons, a 120-volt wall-style power outlet, and a 180-degree front-view camera.
• Powertrain: The Ascent uses a turbocharged 2.4-liter 4-cylinder boxer engine with 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque, paired with a CVT and standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. It is described as having plenty of pickup for city and highway driving, with 8.7 inches of ground clearance and up to 5,000 pounds of available towing capacity when properly equipped.
• Safety package: EyeSight is standard on all trims and includes pre-collision braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane-departure warning. Premium, Limited, and Touring also add blind-spot detection and rear cross-traffic alert. Limited and Touring add automatic high beams and reverse automatic emergency braking.
• Infotainment: Base trims get a 6.5-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. All other trims get an 8-inch touchscreen. The system includes physical buttons and real dials for easier use, and the available Technology Package adds navigation, a Harman Kardon premium stereo, a panoramic moonroof, and real-time traffic and weather updates.
• Fuel efficiency: The Ascent returns 21 mpg city, 27 highway, and 23 combined. Limited and Touring drop to 20/26/22.

Which 2019 Subaru Ascent trim should I buy?

The 2019 Subaru Ascent is offered in 4 trim levels: Base, Premium, Limited, and Touring.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the value play if you want the core Ascent experience without paying for extras. You still get standard all-wheel drive, EyeSight safety tech, 3-zone climate control, and a useful set of family-friendly features, so it covers the essentials well.
• Premium: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds heated front seats, a power driver’s seat, an 8-inch touchscreen, 4G LTE Wi-Fi capability, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. It gives you a noticeable upgrade in comfort and convenience without jumping to the highest price tiers.
• Limited: This trim is the step up if you want a more premium cabin and more convenience features. It adds leather seating, heated second-row seats, a heated steering wheel, a power liftgate, automatic high beams, and reverse automatic emergency braking, making it a strong choice for buyers who plan to keep the SUV for family duty.
• Touring: Choose this if you want the most upscale Ascent with ventilated front seats, woodgrain trim, a 120-volt outlet, and a front-view camera. It is the most feature-rich version, but it makes the most sense if you specifically want the top-end comfort and convenience equipment.

Premium, Limited, and Touring all include blind-spot detection and rear cross-traffic alert, while Limited and Touring add automatic high beams and reverse automatic emergency braking.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Subaru Ascent?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 38.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,384 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.62% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 76.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,970, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Subaru Ascent's resale value?

The current average of $16,970 sits slightly below last year's $19,420.

That price movement suggests the Ascent has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stabilizes. If you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may have a better chance of limiting further value loss.

The current trend also signals that buyers are price-sensitive, so resale performance will likely depend on condition, mileage, and trim appeal. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Subaru Ascent safe?

The 2019 Subaru Ascent earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

EyeSight is standard on all trims and includes pre-collision braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane-departure warning. Subaru also equips the Ascent with front- and side-impact airbags, vehicle dynamics control, and a tire pressure monitoring system. Premium, Limited, and Touring add blind-spot detection and rear cross-traffic alert, while Limited and Touring add automatic high beams and reverse automatic emergency braking.

That standard safety coverage is a major strength, especially for family buyers who want advanced driver assistance without moving up the trim ladder.

Should I buy a 2019 Subaru Ascent or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 38.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.62% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings standard all-wheel drive, standard EyeSight safety tech, and a family-focused three-row layout.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $19,364, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $16,970 average.
• It broadens appeal for buyers who want extra room for people, pets, and cargo.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2019 is the smarter starting point because it combines a lower average price with strong safety and family utility. If you are willing to spend more for a newer model year, the 2020 is the alternative to consider.

How does the 2019 Subaru Ascent compare to the 2019 Honda Pilot?

Our experts score the 2019 Subaru Ascent 8/10 and the 2019 Honda Pilot 8.3/10. The Ascent gives you standard all-wheel drive, a lower average used price, and a stronger accident-free share. The Pilot counters with more horsepower and a larger listing pool, which may matter if you want broader shopping choice. If you value value, safety, and standard AWD, the Ascent makes a strong case; if you want a slightly stronger overall expert score and more power, the Pilot has the edge.
