Why it stands out
The 2019 Mercedes-Benz S-Class stands out because it sits at the center of Mercedes-Benz’s long-running flagship formula: a large luxury sedan built to showcase the brand’s best technology, craftsmanship, and safety engineering. In this generation, Mercedes gave the car the second generation of its MBUX infotainment interface, and buyers could opt for up to five screens on board. Mercedes also said there was a new 3D driver display system that uses eye tracking to create the illusion of depth, reinforcing the S-Class’s role as a rolling technology showcase.
It also offers serious performance for a luxury sedan. In 2019, Mercedes upgraded the plug-in hybrid into the S 560e, which had 469 system horsepower and 30 miles of electric range. That combination makes the car appealing to buyers who want quiet, efficient commuting without giving up the effortless power expected from an S-Class. The model’s appeal is further strengthened by its reputation for lavish luxury and advanced safety systems, though it remains expensive to buy, fuel, maintain, and insure.
At the same time, the 2019 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is not a bargain, and that is part of its identity. It is a car chosen for its sense of occasion and its depth of equipment rather than for value, and even used examples still carry the costs that come with a top-tier luxury sedan. For buyers who want a flagship experience with standout technology, strong performance, and a richly appointed cabin, that tradeoff is exactly what makes it distinctive.

How much does the 2019 Mercedes-Benz S-Class cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $39,545 |
| Year-Round Low | $39,545 |
| Year-Round High | $45,359 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $44,869 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −11.87% |
Prices have softened 11.87% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 599 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of used S-Class options to compare.
Is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz S-Class a good car?
Yes — the 4.78/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the luxurious feel, advanced technology, strong performance, craftsmanship, spacious interior, and safety features. If you want a flagship luxury sedan that emphasizes comfort, innovation, and a richly appointed cabin, this model year fits that use case well. With 34.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, you also have a meaningful chance to find a competitive price.
Is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz S-Class reliable?
Owners rate it 4.78/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owner feedback also points to a car that feels dependable in daily use, with praise centered on its strong performance, luxury, and advanced technology. That said, used luxury flagships can still bring higher ownership costs, so long-term risk for buyers usually comes down to maintenance history and how well the car has been cared for.
What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?
At 66.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records, title status, and service history before you go any further. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on a car with complex luxury features and high-end electronics. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior bodywork, and whether the cabin technology and comfort systems work as expected.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Mercedes-Benz S-Class?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile opportunities.
- Deal availability: 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 599 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.87% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 66.4% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $39,545, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz S-Class's resale value?
The current average of $39,545 sits slightly below last year's $44,869.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more confidently if you plan to own the car for a while. For future resale, the key will be how well the car is maintained and how desirable its equipment and condition remain when you decide to sell. Because this is a high-end luxury sedan, buyers in the used market tend to respond strongly to clean history and strong presentation.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.78/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2019 Mercedes-Benz S-Class or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2019 if:
- 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 66.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.87% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.78/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of current pricing, owner satisfaction, and flagship luxury features, the 2019 is a sensible place to focus. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby years to see whether a lower-priced example offers similar equipment and condition for less money.
