How much does the 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class cost?

Prices have softened 9.17% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 423 listings available, which gives you a meaningful pool to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 10/10.

Drivers consistently praise its rugged design, solid build quality, and modern features, and many also value its head-turning looks and strong resale appeal. The overview frames it as a luxury SUV with serious character and off-road credibility, which matches the way it blends premium materials with a distinctive, military-inspired presence. The main trade-offs are poor visibility and a practical side that can feel compromised, including a desire for more convenient rear-seat functionality.

With 34.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a rugged, solidly built vehicle that owners feel good about living with over time, and the review summary also highlights its modern features and strong resale value. The expert evaluation reinforces that sense of durability by describing it as a vehicle that feels carved from a single block of steel and capable of handling punishing off-road use. It also notes that the first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about basic toughness and more about whether prior use, maintenance, and repair history have been handled carefully.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

At 73.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has been used hard or modified. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the vehicle still feels tight and well sorted on the road. Because this model’s appeal is tied so closely to its premium feel and rugged character, condition matters as much as mileage.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin is defined by ultra-soft leather, wood trim, aluminum accents, and a highly custom feel, but the base setup still leaves some convenience and visibility compromises that you should notice during a test drive.
• Powertrain: A 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 makes 416 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 9-speed automatic, a 2-speed transfer case, permanent 4WD, and three locking differentials.
• Safety package: The stability control and active lane-keeping systems are notably aggressive, and advanced driver-assistance features are not standard.
• Infotainment: The Comand system is crisp and colorful, with WiFi and live traffic, but some functions are buried in submenus and there is no head-up display.
• Fuel efficiency: No figure is stated in the available data.

Which 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class trim should I buy?

The 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class is offered in 1 trim level: G550.

Here's the short version:

The G550 is the trim to focus on if you want the core G-Class experience: the hand-built feel, the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, permanent 4WD with three locking differentials, and the full luxury cabin treatment. It is the best fit for you if you want the model’s distinctive character without chasing a higher-performance badge. The safety content also makes clear that advanced safety features are not standard, so you should pay close attention to equipment on any listing you consider.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 423 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.17% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 73.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $104,247, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class's resale value?

The current average of $104,943 sits slightly below last year's $115,532.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled from a year ago, which can help you buy more confidently now. For a future seller, it also means resale value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle has been maintained. Because this model has strong enthusiast appeal and a distinctive identity, clean examples should continue to attract attention.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class safe?

The 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class has not been tested by NHTSA or IIHS.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The safety content highlights a key caveat: its increased tendency to roll over makes it a less ideal choice for young or inexperienced drivers and families. It also notes that advanced safety features are not standard, so you should verify exactly which driver-assistance equipment is included on any used example you consider.

Should I buy a 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 73.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.17% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It is an all-new redesign that blends rugged character with a more modern luxury feel.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $118,794, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $104,943 average.
• It keeps the same old-school presence while adding Mercedes luxury and tech to a true off-road-capable SUV.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest value in this generation, the 2019 is the smarter starting point because prices have eased and inventory is available. If you are willing to pay more for a newer model-year example, the 2020 is the secondary path for buyers who want the same basic formula with a slightly newer market position.
