How much does the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee cost?

Prices have softened 10.30% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 6,678 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee a good car?

Generally — the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns a 4.4/5 user rating and a 6.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

Owners repeatedly praise its smooth ride, spacious interior, and extensive features. The overview also points to its broad appeal for you if you want capability without giving up daily usability, since it is meant to work well both on the road and off it. The market also shows 33.9% of listings as good or great deals, which supports the case for shopping carefully.

Is the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that many drivers feel good about living with over time, especially because they value its smooth ride, spacious interior, and overall usefulness. The expert notes also emphasize that it is built to handle both pavement and rougher terrain, which reinforces the sense that it is meant to be a dependable all-around SUV. The cost-effectiveness discussion also suggests that value improves when you choose the right version rather than the cheapest one.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that satisfaction can be offset by condition-specific issues, so you should pay close attention to maintenance history and wear.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

At 64% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on signs of prior bodywork, uneven panel gaps, tire wear, brake condition, and any evidence that the vehicle was used hard. Because this model is often bought for capability, it is especially important to confirm that the specific example you are considering has been maintained properly.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Laredo starts the lineup, and the Limited X is called out as the version that best represents where value, style, equipment, and capability intersect. Higher trims add more luxury, while the Trailhawk emphasizes off-road capability and the Trackhawk focuses on outrageous performance.
• Powertrain: Most versions use a 3.6-liter V6 with 295 horsepower, while higher-output V8 options are available in select trims.
• Safety package: Standard blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is included, and an available package adds parking assist, adaptive cruise control with full stop, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and rain-sensing wipers.
• Infotainment: The Laredo gets a 7-inch touchscreen, while other versions add Uconnect with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio, voice recognition, and navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert notes that the V6 returns 21 mpg combined, and also says the added weight and driveline friction of 4WD reduce city and highway figures by 1 mpg each.

Which 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee trim should I buy?

The 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee is offered in 12 trim levels: Laredo, Altitude, Trailhawk, Summit, Trackhawk, Limited X, Laredo E, Laredo X, All-Weather Trail Rated Package, Limited, SRT, and Summit with 4WD.

Here's the short version:

• Laredo: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Grand Cherokee experience with the 7-inch touchscreen. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price, but you give up some of the richer equipment found higher up.
• Limited X: This is the best-value trim because it is specifically called out as the version that best represents where value, style, equipment, and capability intersect. It adds distinctive styling and a more upscale feel without jumping all the way to luxury pricing.
• Trailhawk: Choose this if you want the most off-road-focused version in the lineup. It is the trim for buyers who care most about trail capability.
• Summit: This is the luxury choice, aimed at you if you want the most premium-feeling Grand Cherokee.
• Trackhawk: This is the outrageous performance model, and it is for buyers who want maximum power rather than balanced value.

The safety package note is important: the available Advanced Active Safety Group adds several driver-assistance features, but not every trim includes it.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,678 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.30% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 64.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,697, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee's resale value?

The current average of $17,697 sits slightly below last year's $19,729.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may temper what a future seller can expect. If you buy at the right price now, you reduce the risk of taking a bigger depreciation hit later. The fact that the model still draws strong owner satisfaction should help support demand, especially for well-kept examples with desirable equipment.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee safe?

The 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns a Marginal rating for small-overlap frontal-impact protection for the driver and a Poor rating for small-overlap frontal-impact protection for the front passenger from IIHS, and it earns a three-star rollover resistance rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is included, and the available Advanced Active Safety Group adds parking assist, adaptive cruise control with full stop, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and rain-sensing wipers.

The main caveat is that its crash protection is a weak point, so you should not treat its available driver-assistance tech as a substitute for strong structural safety performance.

Should I buy a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.30% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 stands out for its broad on-road and off-road versatility, while still being easy to drive every day.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $19,802, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $17,697 average.
• It remains an appealing but flawed choice with a redesign expected soon.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2019 is the stronger buy because prices are softer and inventory is broad. If you are willing to spend more for a newer model year, the 2020 is the cleaner path, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2019.
