How much does the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee cost?

Prices have softened 9.89% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 6,829 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for comparison shopping.

Is the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee a good car?

Generally — the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns a 4.4/5 user rating and a 6.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise the smooth ride, spacious interior, and extensive features. They also point to strong value and performance compared with competitors, which fits the Grand Cherokee’s role as an SUV that balances everyday usability with broader capability.

That makes it a strong fit if you want an SUV that feels comfortable on the road but still has a more adventurous personality. The market also shows 31.0% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you room to shop selectively.

Is the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with praise for the Grand Cherokee’s smooth ride, spacious cabin, and overall value. The expert drive notes also describe it as a vehicle that performs admirably in everyday use while still being ready for more demanding driving.

The powertrain and chassis tuning are presented as capable and confidence-inspiring, and the available maintenance perk helps reduce early ownership friction. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the specific vehicle you choose has been cared for well, since condition and maintenance history matter more than the badge alone.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

At 64.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection. Focus on bodywork quality, signs of prior collision repair, and whether the cabin and mechanicals match the seller’s description. Because this model can be bought in many configurations, condition matters more than mileage alone.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Laredo starts the lineup, while the Limited X adds the performance vented hood, revised bumpers, unique 20-inch wheels, special leather seats, and a more upscale cabin feel. The base trim also lacks the more sophisticated Uconnect setup unless you add it as an option.
• Powertrain: Most versions use a 3.6-liter V6 with 295 horsepower and an 8-speed automatic. Higher-output V8 versions are also mentioned, and the available 4WD systems add capability, but they can reduce fuel economy.
• Safety package: The Advanced Active Safety Group adds parking assist, adaptive cruise control with full stop, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and rain-sensing wipers. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard, while some parking assistance is available on higher versions.
• Infotainment: The Laredo gets a 7-inch touchscreen, while other trims use Jeep’s Uconnect system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio, voice recognition, and navigation. Higher trims can also get premium audio.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert drive notes that 4WD knocks city and highway figures down by 1 mpg each, and the combined rating is 21 mpg.

Which 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee trim should I buy?

The 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee is offered in 12 trim levels: Laredo, Altitude, Trailhawk, Summit, Trackhawk, Limited X, Laredo E, Laredo X, All-Weather Trail Rated Package, Limited, SRT, and Summit with 4WD.

Here's the short version:

• Laredo: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the Grand Cherokee’s core capability and styling at the lowest starting price. It comes with the 7-inch touchscreen, but the more advanced Uconnect setup is optional here.
• Limited X: This is the best-value choice in the lineup. It adds the performance hood, revised bumpers, unique wheels, special leather seats, and a more upscale cabin, while the expert review specifically calls it the trim where value, style, equipment, and capability intersect best.
• Trailhawk: Choose this if you want the most clearly off-road-focused version mentioned in the data. It is identified as the trim for improved off-roading capability.
• Summit: This is the luxury-oriented choice, with the data pointing to premium leather and a higher-end feel.
• Trackhawk: This is the outrageous performance model, with the data calling out its 707-horsepower character and pricing well above the rest of the lineup.

The safety package note to keep in mind is that the Advanced Active Safety Group adds a broad set of driver-assistance features, but the underlying crash-test results remain a major consideration.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,829 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.89% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 64.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,878, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee's resale value?

The current average of $17,878 sits slightly below last year's $19,841.

That price movement suggests the market has softened, which can help you buy more affordably now but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you can reduce the impact of that depreciation.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee safe?

The 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns a Marginal rating from IIHS for small-overlap frontal-impact protection for the driver and a Poor rating for the front passenger, and it earns a three-star rollover resistance rating from NHTSA for rear-drive models.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

The Grand Cherokee does offer modern driver-assistance tech, including standard blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. The Advanced Active Safety Group adds parking assist, adaptive cruise control with full stop, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and rain-sensing wipers.

The caveat is clear: despite its useful safety tech, the crash-test results are a major weakness, so you should weigh that carefully if safety is a top priority.

Should I buy a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.89% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 stands out for its broad trim spread and the Limited X value sweet spot.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $19,945, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $17,878 average.
• It adds a more up-to-date model-year context and remains an appealing, if flawed, choice.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2019 is the stronger buy because pricing has softened and inventory is healthy. If you can spend more and want the next model year’s slightly newer positioning, the 2020 is worth a look, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2019.
