Is the 2019 INFINITI QX80 a good car?

Yes — the 2019 INFINITI QX80 earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Form and function.

Owners consistently praise its powerful performance, smooth ride, luxurious features, spacious interior, and stylish design. In practical terms, that lines up with a large luxury SUV that prioritizes comfort, presence, and a traditional feel over modern tech. The market also shows 37.0% good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2019 INFINITI QX80 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable in daily use, with praise for its powerful performance, smooth ride, and comfortable, spacious cabin. The expert evaluation also emphasizes its body-on-frame toughness and strong towing capability, which supports the sense that it is built for long-term use rather than short-term flash. If you buy used, the main ownership risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the truck has been maintained well enough to offset its age, fuel costs, and luxury-suv complexity.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 INFINITI QX80?

At 67.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially on bodywork, paint quality, and signs of prior repair. Because this model is expensive to fuel and some owners have raised concerns about paint quality, condition matters as much as mileage. Focus on whether the cabin, exterior finish, and mechanical systems show the kind of wear you would expect from a large luxury SUV.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Limited adds two-tone 22-inch rims, unique gray metallic paint, stainless steel running boards, and a special black-and-white interior with microsuede inserts and extensive soft-touch materials. The Luxe is the more straightforward choice if you want the core QX80 experience without paying for the most elaborate cabin treatment.
• Powertrain: The QX80 uses a 5.6-liter V8 with 400 horsepower, 413 pound-feet of torque, and a 7-speed automatic. Rear-wheel drive is standard on the Luxe, while selectable 4-wheel drive is optional on the Luxe and standard on the Limited.
• Infotainment: The touchscreen is controlled by a 4-axis rotary knob, and the rear entertainment system can accept USB and HDMI inputs. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are missing, and the display is dated.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA rates the QX80 at 13 mpg city, 19 highway, and 15 combined with 4WD, and 14/20/16 with RWD.

Which 2019 INFINITI QX80 trim should I buy?

The 2019 INFINITI QX80 is offered in 3 trim levels: Luxe, 4WD Luxe, Limited.

Here's the short version:

• Luxe: This is the entry point and the best-value starting place if you want the QX80’s core luxury, towing, and V8 power without stretching to the top of the range.
• 4WD Luxe: Choose this if you want the same basic equipment as the Luxe but prefer the added traction and capability of selectable 4-wheel drive.
• Limited: This is the most lavish version, with the richest interior treatment and exclusive appearance upgrades, but it is the least compelling value unless you specifically want the most upscale cabin.

The safety content notes that forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection comes standard, while lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, rear emergency braking, and blind-spot monitoring are optional.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 INFINITI QX80?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on strong listings.

• Deal availability: 37.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 616 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.71% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 67.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,556, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 INFINITI QX80's resale value?

The current average of $20,556 sits slightly below last year's $23,822.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that this model’s value is being shaped by age, fuel costs, and outdated technology more than by scarcity. If you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you can still protect more of your value than a neglected example would.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 INFINITI QX80 safe?

The 2019 INFINITI QX80 earns four-star ratings overall from NHTSA, with two-star ratings for the driver and three-star ratings for the passenger in frontal crash tests, and five-star ratings in side-impact tests.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection comes standard, while lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, rear emergency braking, and blind-spot monitoring are optional. The QX80’s older body structure is a concern, and the available safety equipment is not as comprehensive as you might expect in a luxury SUV.

Should I buy a 2019 INFINITI QX80 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 37.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 67.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.71% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 brings a more lavish and pricier feel, with the Limited trim adding a richer interior and the model continuing to offer strong towing capability.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $21,791, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $20,556 average.
• It feels like a more luxurious take on the Nissan Armada with premium accommodations.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of price and luxury, the 2019 is the smarter buy. If you can spend more and want a slightly more polished-feeling alternative, the 2020 is worth a look.
