Is the 2019 Hyundai Kona a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Hyundai Kona earns a 4.54/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Is the 2019 Hyundai Kona reliable?

Owners rate it 4.54/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers describe it as dependable in everyday use, with praise centered on its comfortable ride, solid performance, and trouble-free ownership experience. The positive feedback around long-term satisfaction suggests you can approach it as a sensible used buy if the specific vehicle has been maintained well. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about the model’s reputation and more about finding a clean example with a documented history.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Hyundai Kona?

At 68.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on body panels, alignment, tires, and any signs of uneven wear or repair work. Because the Kona is compact, also pay close attention to interior condition and cargo-area wear, since those areas can reveal how the car was used.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Hyundai Kona?

This is a moderate market, so you can buy now if the right listing appears, but you should still compare carefully.

• Deal availability: 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 908 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.15% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $13,435, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Hyundai Kona's resale value?

The current average of $13,705 sits slightly below last year's $14,006.

That tells you the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy at a better entry point today. For future resale, the softer pricing trend suggests you should focus on condition, mileage, and documentation if you want to protect value. A well-kept example should still appeal to shoppers looking for a small SUV with strong owner satisfaction and a distinctive personality.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.54/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Hyundai Kona or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 32.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 68.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.15% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.54/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $15,201, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $13,705 average.
• It adds more standard driver assists and feels more up to date.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2019 is the smarter starting point because it combines a lower average price with strong owner satisfaction. If you are willing to pay more for a newer model with more standard driver-assist content, the 2020 is the better secondary path for buyers who prioritize those updates over price.
