How much does the 2019 Honda Civic cost?

Prices have softened 4.47% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,005 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2019 Honda Civic a good car?

Yes — 4.71/5 from owners and 7.83/10 from experts point to a strong overall package. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its reliability, comfort, and impressive safety features, and they also like its stylish appearance and good fuel economy. That lines up well with the Civic’s use-case as a compact car that can serve as everyday transportation while still feeling more engaging and upscale than many rivals. You also get a broad range of body styles and powertrains, so you can shop for a version that fits your priorities. 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2019 Honda Civic reliable?

Owners rate it 4.71/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback highlights reliability, and the expert evaluation reinforces that this is a car built to feel refined and durable over time. The cabin materials and switchgear are described as high quality and built to last, and the powertrains are presented as smooth and refined. Honda also notes that the Civic’s manuals have near-perfect clutch and shifter feel, while the CVT avoids the strained behavior that can hurt confidence in some other cars.

If you’re buying used, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific car you choose has been maintained well and hasn’t accumulated avoidable wear.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Honda Civic?

At 51.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of body panels, paint consistency, and signs of prior repair. Because the Civic’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been kept, condition matters as much as mileage. It’s also smart to confirm the equipment level you want, since some trims add meaningful comfort, tech, or safety advantages.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin and exterior presentation vary by trim, with the Touring bringing LED headlights, navigation, and the top-tier stereo, while the Sport adds a center-mounted exhaust and some of the performance-oriented Si styling for less money.
• Powertrain: The lineup includes a 2.0-liter inline 4-cylinder with 158 horsepower and 138 pound-feet of torque, plus a turbocharged 1.5-liter inline-4 with 174 hp and 162 lb-ft; the turbo engine is quicker to respond and stronger in the mid-range.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard on every trim level except the Si and Type R, and it includes forward-collision alert with emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control.
• Infotainment: The system includes standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Honda’s Garmin-based navigation is a standout for its graphics and voice input.
• Fuel efficiency: The turbo engine is described as the better choice for response and mid-range acceleration, but no MPG figure is stated here.

Which 2019 Honda Civic trim should I buy?

The 2019 Honda Civic is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, Sport, EX, Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Civic without chasing extras. It gets the core Civic formula, but you’ll want to compare it carefully against the next trim because the added equipment elsewhere in the lineup is meaningful.
• Sport: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds more style and a sportier look for not much more money. If you want the Civic to feel a little more special without jumping too far up the price ladder, this is the trim to focus on.
• EX: This is the recommended mid-pack trim, and it pairs the turbo engine with a moonroof, power driver’s seat, and touchscreen. It’s the sweet spot if you want the strongest blend of everyday comfort, performance, and value.
• Touring: This is the most fully equipped Civic in the lineup, with LED headlights, navigation, and the top-tier stereo. Choose it if you want the most premium Civic experience and are willing to pay for it.

Honda Sensing is standard on every trim level except the Si and Type R.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Honda Civic?

This looks like a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,005 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.47% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 51.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,150, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Honda Civic's resale value?

The current average of $17,454 sits slightly below last year's $18,270.

That softer pricing suggests the Civic has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right number today. If you purchase near the lower end of the current range, you may have less downside left than a buyer who pays closer to the top of the market. The Civic’s broad appeal also helps support demand, especially for well-kept examples with the right equipment.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.71/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Honda Civic safe?

The 2019 Honda Civic earns five-star ratings in all NHTSA categories except the coupe, which gets a four-star passenger-side frontal crash rating.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard on every trim level except the Si and Type R, and it includes forward-collision alert with emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. The Civic also earned top marks in earlier IIHS testing, with Good ratings across the crash tests cited here and Superior crash-prevention performance. The main caveat is that the 2019 model itself was not separately rated by IIHS.

Should I buy a 2019 Honda Civic or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 51.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.47% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.71/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 keeps the Civic’s winning formula of style, value, and performance with only minor tweaks.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $18,722, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $17,454 average.
• It adds minor design tweaks, more standard safety and convenience features, and more manual transmissions.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2019 is the smarter buy because it delivers the Civic’s core strengths at a lower average price. If you’re willing to spend more for a slightly fresher setup and a few added conveniences, the 2020 is the better secondary path.
