What should I look for when buying a used 2019 GMC Acadia?

At 65.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with a lower price than the market average. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the cabin and electronics still feel well cared for. If you’re shopping a family SUV, make sure the third row, cargo area, and seat mechanisms all work the way you expect.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SL includes 17-inch painted aluminum wheels, 7-passenger seating, remote keyless entry, 3-zone climate control, and heated power side mirrors. The SLE-1 adds C-shaped signature LED headlights, carpeted floor mats, and Sirius XM satellite radio, while the SLE-2 adds 18-inch machined aluminum wheels, a power liftgate, fog lights, silver-colored roof rails, an 8-way power driver’s seat, heated front seats, and remote engine start. The SLT-1 adds a Bose 8-speaker premium stereo system, more driver-assistance features, heated and auto-dimming side mirrors, a 120-volt power outlet, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and lumbar adjustment for both front seats. The SLT-2 adds 20-inch bright aluminum wheels, a more extensive list of driver-assistance features, heated rear seats, and front-seat memory settings. The Denali adds a hands-free power tailgate, unique 20-inch bright aluminum wheels, brightwork roof rails, HID headlights, a unique grille design, an automatic heated leather-wrapped power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, and leather-appointed seating. The SLT-1 is the best-value trim if you want the strongest mix of comfort and equipment without jumping to Denali pricing.

• Powertrain: Two engines are offered: a 193-hp inline 4-cylinder and a 310-hp 3.6-liter V6. The 4-cylinder is FWD-only, while the V6 is available with FWD or AWD and comes standard on the SLT-1 AWD, SLT-2, and Denali trims. The V6 is the stronger choice if you want quicker acceleration, better towing ability, and more relaxed everyday driving.

• Safety package: Driver Alert Package 1 adds blind-spot warning, lane-change alert, and rear park assist. Driver Alert Package 2 adds low-speed forward automatic braking, lane-departure warning, pedestrian detection, forward-collision alert, adaptive headlights and high beams, rear cross-traffic alert, and front and rear parking sensors. Some of these features are optional on lower trims, so check carefully before assuming a used example has them.

• Infotainment: The base SL uses a 7-inch touchscreen with IntelliLink, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, five USB ports, and a WiFi hotspot that requires a subscription. The SLT-1 upgrades to an 8-inch screen, and the Denali adds standard navigation. The SLT-1 and SLT-2 also add a 4.2-inch color information display in the gauge cluster, while the Denali gets a larger 8-inch display.

• Fuel efficiency: The base SL with the 4-cylinder and FWD returns 21 mpg city, 26 highway, 23 combined. The SLT-1 AWD with the V6 should return 17/25/20, and the expert drive observed 19.8 mpg in mixed driving.

Which 2019 GMC Acadia trim should I buy?

The 2019 GMC Acadia is offered in 6 trim levels: SL, SLE-1, SLE-2, SLT-1, SLT-2, and Denali.

Here's the short version:

• SL: This is the entry point, and it covers the basics with 7-passenger seating, 3-zone climate control, remote keyless entry, and standard smartphone integration. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and can live without many convenience upgrades.

• SLE-1: This trim adds signature LED headlights and satellite radio, but its appeal is mostly tied to option-package availability. It works best if you’re shopping carefully and plan to build up equipment selectively.

• SLE-2: You get a power liftgate, heated front seats, remote start, fog lights, and an 8-way power driver’s seat. It’s a more comfortable daily driver than the lower trims, but much of its value still depends on which packages are installed.

• SLT-1: This is the sweet spot for many shoppers because it adds the Bose audio system, more driver-assistance features, better mirrors, and more cabin convenience. CarGurus recommends this trim because it makes much of the desirable content standard.

• SLT-2: This trim builds on the SLT-1 with heated rear seats, memory settings, and a broader safety feature set. Choose it if you want a more fully equipped family SUV and don’t mind paying more.

• Denali: The Denali is the luxury-focused choice, with chrome-heavy styling, a hands-free power tailgate, navigation, and upgraded interior appointments. It’s the right pick if you want the most upscale Acadia experience.

The safety-package trims are worth paying attention to, because several driver-assistance features are bundled rather than standard on every version.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 GMC Acadia?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings closely and move quickly on strong examples.

• Deal availability: 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,534 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.99% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 65.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,195, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 GMC Acadia's resale value?

The current average of $17,208 sits slightly below last year's $19,118.

That price movement suggests the Acadia has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price today. If you choose a well-kept example with desirable equipment, you may have a better chance of holding value than you would with a stripped or heavily worn vehicle. The market still rewards clean, well-equipped family SUVs, especially when they have strong owner satisfaction.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.43/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 GMC Acadia safe?

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The Acadia comes standard with front- and side-impact airbags, a reversing camera, and traction control. Driver Alert Package 1 adds blind-spot warning, lane-change alert, and rear park assist, while Driver Alert Package 2 adds low-speed forward automatic braking, lane-departure warning, pedestrian detection, forward-collision alert, adaptive headlights and high beams, rear cross-traffic alert, and front and rear parking sensors. Some of those features are not standard on lower trims, so you should verify exactly what’s installed on any used example you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2019 GMC Acadia or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.99% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.43/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 stands out for its upscale cabin and strong daily-driving balance.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $15,401, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $17,208 average.
• It gained broader V6 availability and improved handling.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $20,090, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $17,208 average.
• It adds bolder styling, a turbo engine, and updated tech.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, refinement, and available equipment, the 2019 is the primary year to target. If your budget is tighter, the 2018 can save you money, while the 2020 makes sense only if you specifically want the refresh and are willing to pay more for it.
