What should I look for when buying a used 2019 GMC Acadia?

At 65.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection if the listing has any accident or repair history. Pay close attention to the third row, interior wear, and any signs that the vehicle has been used heavily as a family hauler. It is also smart to confirm that all features and driver-assistance systems work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SL includes 17-inch painted aluminum wheels, 7-passenger seating, remote keyless entry, 3-zone climate control, and heated power side mirrors. The SLE-1 adds C-shaped signature LED headlights, carpeted floor mats, and Sirius XM satellite radio, while the SLE-2 adds 18-inch machined aluminum wheels, a power liftgate, fog lights, silver-colored roof rails, an 8-way power driver's seat, heated front seats, and remote engine start. The SLT-1 adds a Bose 8-speaker premium stereo system, a number of driver-assistance features, heated and auto-dimming side mirrors, a 120-volt power outlet, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and lumbar adjustment to the two front seats. The SLT-2 adds 20-inch bright aluminum wheels, a more extensive list of driver-assistance features, heated rear seats, and front-seat memory settings. The Denali adds a hands-free power tailgate, unique 20-inch bright aluminum wheels, brightwork roof rails, HID headlights, a unique Denali grille design, an automatic heated leather-wrapped power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, and leather-appointed seating. The SLT-1 is the recommended value pick because it bundles much of the desirable content without pushing you to the top of the range.
• Powertrain: Two engines are offered: a base inline 4-cylinder with 193 horsepower and a 3.6-liter V6 with 310 hp. The 4-cylinder is FWD-only, while the V6 is available with FWD or AWD and is the stronger choice for acceleration and towing.
• Safety package: Driver Alert Package 1 adds blind-spot warning, lane-change alert, and rear park assist. Driver Alert Package 2 adds low-speed forward automatic braking, lane-departure warning, pedestrian detection, forward-collision alert, adaptive headlights and high beams, rear cross-traffic alert, and front and rear parking sensors. Some of this equipment is not standard on lower trims.
• Infotainment: The base SL uses a 7-inch touchscreen with IntelliLink, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, five USB ports, and a WiFi hotspot that requires a subscription. The SLT-1 upgrades to an 8-inch screen, and the Denali adds navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: The base 4-cylinder with FWD returns 21 mpg city, 26 highway, 23 combined. The V6 AWD setup should return 17/25/20, and the expert test drive observed 19.8 mpg in mixed driving.

Which 2019 GMC Acadia trim should I buy?

The 2019 GMC Acadia is offered in 6 trim levels: SL, SLE-1, SLE-2, SLT-1, SLT-2, and Denali.

Here's the short version:

• SL: This is the entry point, and it covers the basics with 17-inch painted aluminum wheels, 7-passenger seating, remote keyless entry, 3-zone climate control, and heated power side mirrors. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and can live without the nicer convenience and safety upgrades.
• SLE-1: This trim adds signature LED headlights, carpeted floor mats, and Sirius XM satellite radio, and it also opens the door to more option packages. It is a modest step up, but much of its appeal depends on adding extras.
• SLE-2: This version adds 18-inch machined aluminum wheels, a power liftgate, fog lights, roof rails, an 8-way power driver's seat, heated front seats, and remote engine start. It is a better-equipped choice than the lower trims, especially if you want more everyday convenience.
• SLT-1: This is the best-value trim because it brings in the Bose premium stereo, more driver-assistance features, heated and auto-dimming side mirrors, a 120-volt outlet, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and lumbar adjustment for both front seats. It also gets the larger 8-inch touchscreen and is the trim CarGurus recommends.
• SLT-2: This trim builds on the SLT-1 with 20-inch bright aluminum wheels, a more extensive driver-assistance suite, heated rear seats, and front-seat memory settings. It is the right pick if you want more comfort and safety content without going all the way to Denali.
• Denali: The top trim adds the most luxury-focused equipment, including a hands-free power tailgate, unique wheels, HID headlights, a unique grille, a heated leather-wrapped power steering wheel, leather-appointed seating, and navigation. It is the choice if you want the most upscale Acadia experience.

The SLT-1 is the sweet spot for most used buyers, while the SLT-2 is worth a look if you want more safety and comfort features. The safety packages add meaningful driver-assistance content, but some of that equipment is reserved for higher trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 GMC Acadia?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and pricing softness to reward comparison shopping.

• Deal availability: 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,484 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.24% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 65.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,837, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 GMC Acadia's resale value?

The current average of $16,837 sits slightly below last year's $18,969.

That price movement suggests the Acadia has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right price. If you keep mileage reasonable and maintain the vehicle well, you may be better positioned than someone who buys when prices are still elevated. The strongest resale prospects usually come from well-equipped trims with broad appeal and clean history.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 GMC Acadia safe?

The 2019 GMC Acadia earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

It comes standard with front- and side-impact airbags, a reversing camera, and traction control. Driver Alert Package 1 adds blind-spot warning, lane-change alert, and rear park assist, while Driver Alert Package 2 adds low-speed forward automatic braking, lane-departure warning, pedestrian detection, forward-collision alert, adaptive headlights and high beams, rear cross-traffic alert, and front and rear parking sensors.

Some of the more advanced driver-assistance features are not standard on lower trims, so you should verify exactly which package a used listing includes before you buy.

Should I buy a 2019 GMC Acadia or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.24% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 stands out for its more upscale cabin and distinctive feel compared with many rivals.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $15,172, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $16,837 average.
• It offers wider V6 availability and a lighter, more efficient redesign.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $19,760, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $16,837 average.
• It adds bolder styling, an AT4 trim, and updated technology.

The bottom line: Buy the 2019 if you want the best balance of price, refinement, and market availability. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2018 can save you money, while the 2020 makes sense if you want the newer styling and added features.
