What should I look for when buying a used 2019 GMC Acadia?

At 65.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with a long option list. Focus on overall condition, evidence of prior bodywork, and whether the features you want are actually present on the trim you’re looking at. Because some listings may have accident history, it’s worth being especially careful about panel fit, paint consistency, and signs of uneven wear.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SL covers the basics with 17-inch painted aluminum wheels, 7-passenger seating, remote keyless entry, 3-zone climate control, and heated power side mirrors. The SLE-1 adds signature LED headlights and SiriusXM, while the SLE-2 brings a power liftgate, fog lights, heated front seats, and remote engine start. The SLT trims add more premium equipment, and the Denali brings the most luxury-focused content.
• Powertrain: Two engines are offered: a 193-hp inline 4-cylinder and a 310-hp 3.6-liter V6. The V6 is the stronger choice, with quick acceleration and available AWD, while the 4-cylinder is FWD-only. The AWD system includes selectable modes for FWD, AWD, Sport, and All-Terrain use.
• Safety package: Driver Alert Package 1 adds blind-spot warning, lane-change alert, and rear park assist. Driver Alert Package 2 adds low-speed forward automatic braking, lane-departure warning, pedestrian detection, forward-collision alert, adaptive headlights and high beams, rear cross-traffic alert, and front and rear parking sensors. Some of this equipment is not standard on lower trims.
• Infotainment: The base model gets a 7-inch touchscreen with IntelliLink, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, five USB ports, and a WiFi hotspot that requires a subscription. Higher trims add an 8-inch screen, and the Denali adds navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: The base 4-cylinder FWD setup returns 21 mpg city, 26 highway, and 23 combined. The V6 AWD setup should return 17/25/20, and the expert review also notes observed combined driving economy of 19.8 mpg in testing.

Which 2019 GMC Acadia trim should I buy?

The 2019 GMC Acadia is offered in 6 trim levels: SL, SLE-1, SLE-2, SLT-1, SLT-2, and Denali.

Here's the short version:

• SL: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry price and can live with the basics. You still get 7-passenger seating, a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the core comfort and convenience features, but it’s the least upscale version.
• SLE-1: This trim adds LED headlights and SiriusXM, and it opens the door to more options packages. It makes sense if you want a modest step up without jumping too far in price.
• SLE-2: This is the better-equipped mainstream choice, adding a power liftgate, fog lights, heated front seats, remote start, and more convenience features. It’s a strong middle-ground pick if you want useful upgrades without moving into luxury territory.
• SLT-1: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it makes much of the desirable content standard, including the V6, an 8-inch screen, a Bose premium stereo, and more driver-assistance features. CarGurus recommends this trim, and it’s the one to target if you want the Acadia’s upscale character without going all the way to Denali.
• SLT-2: Choose this if you want more safety and comfort upgrades, including a broader driver-assistance suite, heated rear seats, and front-seat memory settings. It’s the right step up if those features matter more than price.
• Denali: This is the luxury-focused choice, with unique styling, navigation, a hands-free power tailgate, leather-appointed seating, and more premium trim details. Buy it if you want the most upscale Acadia experience.

The safety-package trims are worth paying attention to, because several driver-assistance features are bundled rather than standard on lower trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 GMC Acadia?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop, compare, and negotiate.

• Deal availability: 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,532 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.92% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 65.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,984, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 GMC Acadia's resale value?

The current average of $16,984 sits slightly below last year's $19,066.

That decline suggests the market has moved in buyers’ favor, which can make it harder for a future seller to command a premium unless the vehicle is especially clean, well equipped, and well maintained. If you buy at the right price now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pain later. Strong condition and desirable equipment should matter more than ever when it’s time to resell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.43/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 GMC Acadia safe?

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The Acadia comes standard with front- and side-impact airbags, a reversing camera, and traction control. Driver Alert Package 1 adds blind-spot warning, lane-change alert, and rear park assist, while Driver Alert Package 2 adds low-speed forward automatic braking, lane-departure warning, pedestrian detection, forward-collision alert, adaptive headlights and high beams, rear cross-traffic alert, and front and rear parking sensors. Some of the more advanced driver-assistance features are not standard on lower trims, so you’ll want to verify exactly which package a used example has.

Should I buy a 2019 GMC Acadia or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.92% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.43/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 stands out for its upscale cabin and distinctive, family-friendly character.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $15,270, the 2018 costs less than the current year's $16,984 average.
• It broadens V6 availability and improves flexibility for towing and everyday driving.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $19,778, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $16,984 average.
• It adds bolder styling, a new AT4 trim, and updated technology.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, satisfaction, and upscale feel, the 2019 is the smart default. If your budget is tighter, the 2018 can save you money while still delivering the Acadia formula. If you want newer styling and added features, the 2020 is worth a look, but you’ll pay more for it.
