Is the 2018 Subaru WRX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.92/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also emphasizes dependable everyday enjoyment, with repeated praise for the car’s strong performance and handling over time. That kind of satisfaction usually matters most when you’re shopping used, because it suggests the car has delivered a trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers. For you, the main long-term risk is making sure the specific car you choose has been maintained well and hasn’t been worn down by hard use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Subaru WRX?

At 55% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with accident or title issues. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been modified or driven hard. Focus on overall condition, maintenance records, and signs of abuse, since those factors matter more than mileage alone on a performance-oriented used car.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Subaru WRX?

What is the 2018 Subaru WRX's resale value?

The current average of $17,294 sits slightly below last year's $18,229.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can make the car easier to buy now but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that value retention will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car has been cared for. A clean, well-maintained example should still attract interest because the WRX name continues to appeal to enthusiast buyers.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.92/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Subaru WRX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 30.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.13% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.92/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of performance, everyday usability, and current market value, the 2018 is a strong place to focus your search. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and prioritize the cleanest, best-documented example rather than chasing the lowest sticker price.
