Is the 2018 Subaru WRX a good car?

Yes — the 4.9/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Is the 2018 Subaru WRX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback emphasizes that you can count on the WRX for a dependable, enjoyable driving experience, especially if you value strong performance and all-wheel-drive confidence. That kind of long-term approval suggests the car has earned trust from people who live with it every day. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about the model’s appeal and more about finding one that has been cared for properly over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Subaru WRX?

At 56.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been modified or driven hard. Focus on overall condition, maintenance records, and signs of wear that could affect long-term ownership costs.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Subaru WRX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile opportunities.

• Deal availability: 30.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

If you find a listing below $17,023, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Subaru WRX's resale value?

The current average of $17,326 sits slightly below last year's $17,955.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favorable level, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited unless the market tightens. If you plan to sell later, condition and documentation will matter a lot because buyers tend to pay more for clean, well-kept examples. The WRX’s enthusiast appeal should help support demand, especially for cars that present well and have a strong service history.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Subaru WRX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 30.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.50% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2018 is a strong choice if you want the WRX formula at a softer price than newer years and you’re willing to shop carefully for condition. If your priority is stretching your budget, a nearby year with similar character may also make sense, but the 2018 stands out as a balanced pick for buyers who want value, performance, and everyday usability in one package.
