How much does the 2018 Subaru Forester cost?

Prices have softened 3.18% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,112 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2018 Subaru Forester a good car?

Yes — the 4.75/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise the spacious interior, safety features, and smooth driving experience, while also highlighting comfortable seating and user-friendly technology. For you, that makes this a sensible choice if you want a practical compact SUV with room, visibility, and everyday usability. With 36.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is meaningful shopping opportunity if you are selective.

Is the 2018 Subaru Forester reliable?

Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, with praise centered on comfort and ease of living with the vehicle over time. Some owners do mention minor issues, but the overall tone suggests this is a model many people feel they can count on.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the concept of the vehicle and more about finding one that has been well maintained and not worn down by prior use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Subaru Forester?

At 68.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from those with past damage. After that, prioritize a thorough inspection of body panels, alignment, and any signs of uneven wear or repair work. You should also focus on overall condition, since a well-kept Forester is more likely to deliver the practical ownership experience you want.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Subaru Forester?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer's market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,112 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.18% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 68.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,918, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Subaru Forester's resale value?

The current average of $16,248 sits slightly below last year's $16,782.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more favorable for buyers, which can temper resale upside in the near term. If you buy now, your future resale value will likely depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle has been maintained. A clean history and strong presentation matter more when the broader market is already showing some price pressure.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Subaru Forester or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 68.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.18% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $14,639, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $16,248 average.
• It offers a value-focused, practical package with a broader performance-oriented option.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $18,790, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $16,248 average.
• It adds standard advanced safety features and easier everyday usability.

The bottom line: You should start with the 2018 if you want a well-liked Forester with strong practicality and a market that still offers some deal potential. If price is your top priority, the 2017 is the better value path; if you want to spend more for a newer-feeling option, the 2019 is worth a look.
