Is the 2018 RAM 2500 a good car?

Yes — the 4.61/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its reliability, power, and towing capacity, and many highlight the Cummins engine’s strong pulling ability. The 2018 RAM 2500 also fits you well if you want a heavy-duty truck with a more upscale interior, modern tech, and serious utility. Is the 2018 RAM 2500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.61/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback specifically calls out reliability, and the truck’s reputation for power and trouble-free towing comes through in the reviews. Many drivers describe the Cummins engine as dependable for heavy loads and long-term use. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about the truck’s core capability and more about finding one that has been maintained well and not worked harder than its condition suggests.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 RAM 2500?

At 67.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, especially if the truck has been used for towing or commercial work. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on frame condition, suspension wear, brakes, and signs of heavy-duty use. Pay close attention to overall condition, because a truck like this can look clean while still carrying the wear of hard service.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 RAM 2500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,512 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.11% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 67.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $31,618, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 RAM 2500's resale value?

The current average of $31,723 sits slightly below last year's $34,152.

That decline suggests the market has become a bit more favorable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to move inventory. If you buy well now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later. Strong demand for capable heavy-duty trucks can help support values, especially when the truck is clean and well maintained.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.61/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 RAM 2500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 67.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.11% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.61/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $30,680, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $31,723 average.
• It offers a broader work-and-family appeal with plenty of comfort and capability.

The bottom line: If you want the newer-year mix of updated tech, strong owner satisfaction, and a softer price trend, the 2018 is the better primary choice. If your priority is saving money up front, the 2017 is the smarter secondary path, especially if you find one in strong condition with a clean history.
