How much does the 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 342 listings available, which suggests a modest amount of inventory for shoppers to compare.

Is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class a good car?

The 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class stands out because it is the last version of the original design before the model was completely redesigned for 2019. It combines the classic G-Wagen look with old-school toughness and enough modern equipment to make it usable every day.

The cabin had already been refreshed with a new dashboard, an iPad-like infotainment screen, internet connectivity, and driver-assist features such as adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, and collision avoidance systems. It also kept serious off-road capability with four-wheel drive and electronic locking front, center, and rear differentials.

If you want iconic style, real off-road ability, and luxury in one package, this model fits that brief well. The market also shows 32.5% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class reliable?

The 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class is described as generally very reliable, but it also comes with expensive maintenance and repair costs because the truck is full of costly hardware. That means the ownership experience is less about frequent breakdowns and more about paying a premium when service is needed.

For used buyers, the long-term risk is not just reliability itself but the expense of keeping a complex luxury SUV in top condition.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

At 72.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report on any candidate and confirm whether prior damage was cosmetic or structural. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on signs of off-road use, uneven wear, and evidence of deferred maintenance. Because ownership costs are high, condition matters more than mileage alone.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting deep bargain-bin pricing.

• Deal availability: 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 342 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 72.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $80,542, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class's resale value?

The current average of $85,993 sits slightly above last year's $85,439.

That small increase suggests the 2018 model has held its value well rather than sliding sharply. For you as a future seller, that points to a market that still recognizes the G-Class's appeal and rarity. If you buy carefully and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you should have a better chance of preserving value than with many luxury SUVs.

Should I buy a 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 72.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $104,638, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $85,993 average.
• It brings a full redesign with a more modern feel and a more upscale interior.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2018 if you want the original G-Class character at a lower average price and are comfortable shopping carefully for condition. If you want the redesigned look and a more modern cabin, the 2019 is the better path, but it asks for a much higher budget.
