How much does the 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 351 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class a good car?

The 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class stands out because it delivers the classic G-Wagen experience in the original boxy shape, refined over many years rather than reinvented. It combines incredible off-road ability, military-grade style, and sublime luxury, so it fits you well if you want a vehicle that is as much a status symbol as it is a utility machine.

The tradeoffs are clear: it is insanely expensive to buy and maintain, hard to find, and poor on fuel economy. If you value presence, capability, and old-school character over practicality, it makes a strong case. The market also shows 37.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class reliable?

The 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class is presented as a long-running design that had been refined over many years, which supports its reputation for a mature, well-developed formula. Its appeal comes from that established character rather than from novelty, and it pairs rugged capability with luxury in a way that has been honed over time.

For used buyers, the bigger long-term risk is ownership cost rather than simple day-to-day dependability, since maintenance and repairs can be expensive.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

At 70.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report on every candidate and prioritize any signs of prior damage, inconsistent repairs, or repeated ownership changes. A thorough pre-purchase inspection matters here, especially because condition and maintenance history can have a big impact on a vehicle with this kind of complexity and cost profile.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you focus on condition and pricing.

• Deal availability: 37.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 351 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 70.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $80,552, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class's resale value?

The current average of $86,070 sits slightly above last year's $85,415.

That small increase suggests the market has stayed resilient, which can help support your resale position if you buy carefully. Because prices have remained stable, a well-kept example should hold its appeal better than a vehicle in a softer market. If you maintain the truck well and avoid overpaying up front, you give yourself a better chance of limiting depreciation pain later.

Should I buy a 2018 Mercedes-Benz G-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 37.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 70.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $104,781, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $86,070 average.
• It brings an all-new redesign with a more modern luxury feel.

The bottom line: If you want the classic G-Class shape and a more approachable price, the 2018 is the better primary path. If you care more about the redesigned look and can stretch your budget, the 2019 is the stronger secondary option. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2018 gives you the iconic experience without paying the newer-model premium.
