The current average of $15,881 sits slightly below last year's $17,236.

That softer pricing suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend more heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle has been maintained. If you keep the vehicle clean and well documented, you give yourself a better chance of standing out when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Lincoln MKX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 37.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 67.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.86% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2018 if you want a well-liked model year with softer pricing and enough inventory to shop selectively. If your top priority is stretching your budget further, a different year may be worth considering, but the 2018 stands out as a balanced choice when you want strong owner satisfaction and a market that is currently more buyer-friendly.
