About 2018 Land Rover Range Rover Evoque
Launched in 2012, the Range Rover Evoque showed the world that a small crossover SUV could be stylish. Its off-road capability proved that it was worthy of the Range Rover badge. This year, changes are limited. The turbo-four engine has been replaced, and the three-door model is gone. The five-door SUV and two-door convertible body styles remain, and available trims include SE, SE Premium, HSE, HSE Dynamic, and Autobiography. A Landmark Edition, slotted just above the SE Premium and below the HSE, is new for 2018. The 2018 base SE model starts near $42,000, and the Autobiography model pushes past $65,000. The old 240-horsepower Ford-built turbocharged four-cylinder is gone for 2018. The new engine is a similar 2.0-liter engine that makes 237 horsepower and 251 pound-feet of torque. Buyers can opt for an upgraded version of the engine that makes 286 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque that’s good enough for a 0-60 time of six seconds. All versions get a 9-speed automatic and all-wheel drive (AWD). Evoques with the lower-tuned engine are rated at 21 mpg city, 29 highway, and 24 combined, and versions with the more powerful engine will do 22, 29, and 25. While it’s less rugged than many Range Rovers, when it comes to off-road capability, the Evoque isn’t just a fashion accessory. Most will never see anything rougher than a gravel driveway, but it’s up for a challenge. Land Rover’s Terrain Response adjusts the throttle and transmission for different terrain settings like snow or mud, and an optional All-Terrain Progress Control allows the Evoque to move at a crawl when moving over rough or uneven surfaces. All 2018 Range Rover Evoques come standard with a solid number of luxury features like leather and an 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen. The SE Premium adds a motion-activated tailgate and memory features for the seat. The new Landmark model gets a contrasting roof color and distinct exterior trim. The HSE gets Oxford leather, heated front seats, a larger 10-inch touchscreen, better stereo, and a panoramic sunroof;the HSE Dynamic gets aluminum kickplates and the higher-output engine. At the top of the range, the Evoque Autobiography comes with Windsor leather upholstery, further enhanced stereo, a surround-view camera, heated steering wheel and windshield, and heated and cooled front seats with massaging functions. With the rear seats upright, the Range Rover Evoque has a usable 20 cubic feet of cargo space, and it has an impressive 52 cubic feet when the rear seats are folded down. The Range Rover Evoque has not been crash tested, but active safety features include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and parking sensors. Optional extras include blind-spot monitors, automatic high beam headlights, and a surround-view camera.
