At the same time, some owners mention trouble with the sunroof and radio, so long-term ownership risk is worth weighing carefully if you plan to keep the vehicle for years.

At 74.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage was repaired properly. Because this model is loaded with comfort and tech features, make sure everything works as intended before you commit.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Land Rover Discovery?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

If you find a listing below $16,145, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Land Rover Discovery's resale value?

The current average of $16,145 sits slightly below last year's $18,313.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more affordably now but may also limit upside if you sell soon. For a future seller, the key is to buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition so you have less depreciation to absorb later. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.43/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Land Rover Discovery or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 36.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 74.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.84% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.43/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $14,182, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $16,145 average.
• It offers a broader value proposition with strong room, luxury touches, and real off-road ability.

The bottom line: If you want the better-balanced shopping opportunity, the 2018 is the stronger primary target because pricing has eased and inventory is available. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2017 is the better secondary path, especially if you find one in excellent condition.
