How much does the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe cost?

Prices have softened 9.71% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,113 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing prices and equipment.

Is the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe earns a 4.5/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

The overview frames it as a bargain-minded, family-size crossover that emphasizes safety, roominess, and dependability. It is also positioned as a practical choice for buyers who want a safe, spacious SUV without paying more than necessary.

The market backs that up with 36.0% good or great deals, which is a healthy signal for value-focused shoppers.

Is the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview describes it as dependable, and the expert evaluation reinforces that it is a practical, reassuring family SUV rather than a flashy one. The performance notes also point to a refined V6 and a generally quiet cabin, which supports the sense that it is built for steady everyday use.

Hyundai’s cost-effectiveness notes add that the brand regularly offers discounts, along with an impressive warranty and roadside-assistance program. That combination can reduce ownership stress and help you feel better about buying used.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about excitement and more about age-related wear, so condition and maintenance history matter more than badge appeal.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe?

At 69.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on bodywork, suspension, brakes, and electronics. Because this model is now older, condition can vary widely from one listing to the next, so service records and signs of careful ownership matter a lot.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SE is well equipped, with stain- and odor-resistant cloth seats and a Clean Air cabin air filtration system. The SE Ultimate adds bigger wheels and tires, navigation, a panoramic glass sunroof, premium sound, heated and ventilated front seats, and heated rear seats. The Limited Ultimate adds HID headlights that aim around curves and corners, LED taillights, second-row captain’s chairs, and silver trim on the doors.
• Powertrain: All trims use a 3.3-liter V6 with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The engine is described as plenty strong for the Santa Fe and refined in everyday driving, while Eco mode can make it feel lethargic.
• Safety package: Blue Link adds automatic collision notification, SOS emergency calling, and safe teen driving settings for speed, curfew, and geographic boundaries. The Santa Fe also offers driver-assistance and collision-avoidance systems, though the adaptive cruise control could be smoother and the lane-departure warning is audible rather than tactile.
• Infotainment: The system uses an 8-inch display screen, a CD player, navigation, and three free years of Blue Link subscription services. It also includes four main menu shortcut buttons and knobs for commonly used radio and climate functions.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert testing returned an even 20 mpg on a combined-driving test loop.

Which 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe trim should I buy?

The 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe is offered in 3 trim levels: SE, SE Ultimate, and Limited Ultimate.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry point and still want a well-equipped SUV. It includes the stain- and odor-resistant cloth seats and Clean Air cabin air filtration system, making it the best fit for budget-minded family buyers.
• SE Ultimate: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the biggest comfort and convenience upgrades, including navigation, a panoramic glass sunroof, premium sound, and heated and ventilated front seats.
• Limited Ultimate: Choose this if you want the most upscale-feeling version, with HID headlights that aim around corners, LED taillights, and second-row captain’s chairs.

The safety package is broad across the lineup, but the available driver-assistance and collision-avoidance systems are worth confirming on any used listing.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, especially if you are comparing multiple listings and waiting for the right condition-to-price match.

• Deal availability: 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,113 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.71% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 69.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $14,301, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe's resale value?

The current average of $14,357 sits slightly below last year's $15,902.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, that also means your upside is likely to depend more on condition, mileage, and equipment than on broad market appreciation.

Because the model is positioned as a value-focused family SUV, well-kept examples should continue to attract practical shoppers. Listings with strong equipment and clean history should hold demand better than rougher examples.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe safe?

The 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe earns a Top Safety Pick Plus award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Blue Link adds automatic collision notification, SOS emergency calling, and safe teen driving settings tied to speed, curfew, and geographic boundaries. The Santa Fe also offers driver-assistance and collision-avoidance systems, and the expert evaluation describes the collection as effective overall.

One caveat is that the adaptive cruise control could be smoother, and the lane-departure warning is audible rather than tactile. Even so, the safety package is a major reason this model stands out in its class.

Should I buy a 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 69.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.71% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It stands out as one of the safest SUVs you can buy and a bargain in its segment.

Consider the 2019 if:

• At $14,907, the 2019 costs more than the current year's $14,357 average.
• It moves to a true fourth-generation design with a size that sits between compact and midsize SUVs.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest value case, the 2018 is the better buy because it combines a lower average price, strong safety credentials, and a healthy deal rate. If you are willing to spend more for a newer-generation feel and a different size balance, the 2019 is the better alternative.
