Used 2018 Honda HR-V for Sale nearCincinnati, OH

How much does the 2018 Honda HR-V cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 1,061 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2018 Honda HR-V a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Honda HR-V earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 6.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its comfort, great gas mileage, and user-friendly features, and they also highlight its interior versatility for family use. That lines up with the HR-V’s city-friendly footprint and crossover practicality, which make it easy to live with if you want utility without moving up to a larger SUV. Good and great deals account for 33.0% of listings, so there’s still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2018 Honda HR-V reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a reliable choice with a smooth ride, and it repeatedly emphasizes comfort and everyday dependability. On the road, the HR-V’s composed chassis and easygoing driving manners support that impression, even if the powertrain is modest. Honda also positions it as a practical, lower-cost alternative to the CR-V, which can help keep ownership expectations grounded.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the HR-V’s older hardware and dated tech can feel behind the times, so condition and maintenance history matter more than flashy features.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Honda HR-V?

At 58.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the car’s equipment and trim match the seller’s description. Because this model’s appeal depends heavily on practicality and everyday usability, you’ll want to make sure the cabin, visibility, and controls are all in good shape.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX has similar alloys in one color, while EX and EX-L trims get two-tone 17-inch wheels. The EX-L also adds leather, and the cabin materials and finish are notably above class standards.
• Powertrain: A single 1.8-liter 4-cylinder makes 141 horsepower and 127 pound-feet of torque. The front-wheel-drive LX and EX can be had with a 6-speed manual, while all-wheel drive is optional on all trims and pairs with the CVT.
• Safety package: Honda’s standard multi-angle reversing camera is included, and optional LaneWatch uses a camera in the right side-view mirror to show the blind spot on the central screen. Forward-collision alert, blind-spot monitoring, parking sensors, and other electronic safety features are not available.
• Infotainment: The system does not support Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, response time is slow, and the maps are low resolution. There are no driver assists like adaptive cruise control or lane-keep assist.
• Fuel efficiency: Fuel economy is EPA rated at between 25 and 27 mpg city and 31 and 34 mpg highway. The AWD EX-L is rated at 27/31, and the manual transmission is quicker than the CVT.

Which 2018 Honda HR-V trim should I buy?

The 2018 Honda HR-V is offered in 3 trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the HR-V’s core practicality at the lowest starting price. It has similar alloys in one color, and it makes the most sense if you want the least expensive way into the model.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the two-tone 17-inch wheels and keeps the HR-V’s useful everyday character without pushing too far up the price ladder.
• EX-L: Choose this if you want the most upscale cabin, since it adds leather and the most premium feel in the lineup. It also comes with the widest range of exterior color choices.

The safety setup is limited across the lineup, so even higher trims do not bring the advanced driver-assistance features many newer crossovers offer.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Honda HR-V?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find reasonable options.

• Deal availability: 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,061 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 58.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,351, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Honda HR-V's resale value?

The current average of $15,951 sits slightly below last year's $16,048.

That small decline suggests the market has been fairly stable rather than volatile, which is helpful if you plan to sell later. A steady price pattern can make it easier to estimate your future trade-in or private-party value without worrying about sharp swings. The HR-V’s practical appeal and broad shopper interest should continue to support demand, especially for clean examples with good history.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Honda HR-V safe?

The 2018 Honda HR-V earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in side crash tests and four-star ratings in frontal crashes. It scored the top Good rating in four of five crash tests conducted by IIHS, with an Acceptable rating for front side overlap, and it is not a Top Safety Pick.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda’s standard multi-angle reversing camera is a useful feature, and optional LaneWatch adds a camera view of the right-side blind spot on the central screen. But the HR-V does not offer forward-collision alert, blind-spot monitoring, parking sensors, or other electronic safety features, which limits its active-safety appeal. The lack of forward-collision alert with auto-braking is the main caveat to keep in mind.

Should I buy a 2018 Honda HR-V or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 58.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It’s a small crossover that combines a subcompact footprint with big-car utility, optional all-wheel drive, and a more premium cabin.

The bottom line: The 2018 HR-V makes sense if you want a practical, city-friendly crossover and you’re comfortable prioritizing utility, comfort, and value over modern tech and stronger acceleration. If you want more advanced safety and infotainment, a newer model year is the better path; if you’re focused on price and can verify condition carefully, the 2018 remains a sensible used buy.
