How much does the 2018 Chevrolet Malibu cost?

Prices have softened 4.86% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,765 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Malibu a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Chevrolet Malibu earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction.

Owners consistently praise its comfort, impressive fuel economy, and easy-to-live-with cabin. The review summary also highlights a smooth ride, quick acceleration in some trims, and a more upscale feel in the Premier model, which makes it appealing if you want a practical family sedan with a little extra refinement. In the context of a roomy midsize sedan with broad trim and powertrain choices, it fits well if you want everyday usability without moving up to a premium brand.

With 28.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.

Is the 2018 Chevrolet Malibu reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The review summary points to a dependable ownership experience, with owners describing the car as comfortable, efficient, and generally trouble-free in day-to-day use. It also suggests that people feel confident counting on it for regular commuting and family duty, especially when equipped with the features they value most.

For used buyers, that kind of feedback suggests lower long-term ownership risk than you might expect from a mainstream midsize sedan.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Chevrolet Malibu?

At 53.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with collision records. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior repair quality, and whether the car’s equipment and trim level match what you expect.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Chevrolet Malibu?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find value.

• Deal availability: 28.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,765 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.86% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 53.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,635, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Chevrolet Malibu's resale value?

The current average of $11,780 sits slightly below last year's $12,381.

That softer pricing trend can help you buy at a more favorable point, but it also means future resale gains may be limited if the market stays under pressure. If you plan to sell later, condition and mileage will matter even more because buyers will likely compare your car against a fairly broad supply of similar listings. A well-kept Malibu should still hold reasonable appeal thanks to its comfort and efficiency.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Chevrolet Malibu or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 28.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 53.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.86% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $10,757, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $11,780 average.
• It offers a respected redesign foundation with modern family-sedan appeal.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger overall shopping case, the 2018 is the better primary target because it combines solid owner satisfaction with a softer price trend and decent deal availability. If your main goal is to spend less upfront, the 2017 is the better secondary path, especially if you find one in excellent condition and can live with the older model year.
