Why it stands out
The 2018 Buick LaCrosse stands out as a large, quiet sedan that blends traditional Buick comfort with a more modern shape and feature set. In this generation, it returned to full-size proportions and adopted a sleeker, sportier look, while the standard 3.6-liter V6 made 310 horsepower. It also came with an eight-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive, with all-wheel drive remaining optional. For buyers who want a relaxed, upscale-feeling used sedan rather than a flashy performance car, that combination is a big part of its appeal.
Inside, the LaCrosse aimed to feel more contemporary than older Buicks. It used a “waterfall” center-console design, and the cabin added useful upgrades such as a larger 15-cubic-foot trunk, a bigger back seat, a rear window shade, ventilated front seats, a head-up display, wireless phone charging, and a partially digital instrument panel. The 2018 model also reintroduced eAssist to the 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine for 35 mpg highway, while the V6 was paired to a nine-speed automatic transmission. That mix of comfort, technology, and efficiency helps explain why this LaCrosse is the most likeable version of the nameplate.
There are tradeoffs, though. The article notes that the interior had a lot of flimsy plastic parts, and the car was very pricey when new, especially given the lack of basics like rear USB ports and auto up/down rear windows. Even so, the 2018 Buick LaCrosse remains distinctive for buyers who value a plush ride, a roomy cabin, and a more upscale atmosphere than many mainstream sedans provide.

I bought the premium AWD model, its an exceptional car. Every bell and whistle you could possibly imagine, including heads up display. The 3.6 V6 is very peppy at 310 hp, and it gets decent gas mileage. The adaptive suspension is awesome and the car is unbelievably quiet. I wish GM hadnt discontinued this model, its an amazing car.

This is an exceptional vehicle. Too bad the market has inflated the price so much. No complaints otherwise.

How much does the 2018 Buick LaCrosse cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $15,605 |
| Year-Round Low | $15,597 |
| Year-Round High | $17,855 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $16,941 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −7.89% |
Prices have softened 7.89% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 271 listings available, which suggests you have a workable amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2018 Buick LaCrosse a good car?
Yes — the 5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction.
The 2018 Buick LaCrosse stands out as a large, quiet sedan that blends traditional Buick comfort with a more modern shape and feature set. It aims to feel more upscale than many mainstream sedans, with a roomy cabin, a larger trunk, and comfort-focused features that suit you if you want a relaxed, upscale-feeling used sedan rather than a flashy performance car.
27.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2018 Buick LaCrosse reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The 2018 Buick LaCrosse is presented as a comfortable, upscale-feeling sedan with a quiet ride and a feature-rich cabin, which supports its appeal as a used buy. It also offers a mix of efficiency-minded and V6-powered setups, giving you flexibility depending on how you plan to use it.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific car you choose has been maintained well and has no hidden condition issues.
What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Buick LaCrosse?
At 64.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on body condition, interior wear, and whether the car’s comfort and technology features still work as intended.
Because this model was positioned as a more upscale sedan, condition matters a lot: a clean, well-kept example is likely to feel much more satisfying than one with cosmetic or repair history issues.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Buick LaCrosse?
This looks like a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.
- Deal availability: 27.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 271 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.89% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 64.2% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $15,597, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2018 Buick LaCrosse's resale value?
The current average of $15,605 sits slightly below last year's $16,941.
That price movement suggests the market has softened, which can make the car more attractive to you as a buyer but less favorable if you're planning to sell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the car in strong condition, you may be able to limit depreciation pressure over time.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2018 Buick LaCrosse or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2018 if:
- 27.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 64.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 7.89% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2017 if:
- At $15,204, the 2017 costs less than the current year's $15,605 average.
- It offers a redesigned, more premium image with broad appeal.
The bottom line: If you want the stronger all-around value proposition, the 2018 is the better primary target because it combines a softer market, strong satisfaction, and a broad set of comfort-focused features. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2017 is the better secondary path, especially if you find a clean example with the right equipment.
