Owners consistently praise its comfort, features, and performance, along with the smooth ride and advanced technology. The expert evaluation reinforces that impression by emphasizing the Enclave’s quiet, refined character and its substantial redesign for this model year. It also notes a current $750 cash allowance from GM in the cost-effectiveness discussion, which can help offset some ownership cost concerns.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about making sure the specific vehicle you choose has been maintained well and hasn’t accumulated hidden wear.

What should I look for when buying a used 2018 Buick Enclave?

At 64.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a hands-on inspection of the body, cameras, and visibility-related equipment. Because the Enclave’s appeal depends heavily on comfort and technology, condition matters as much as mileage. Pay close attention to how the cabin, electronics, and driver-assistance features work in real life.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base trim includes LEDs, remote engine start, 3-zone auto climate control, rear parking sensors, an 8-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, 4G LTE, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and six USB ports, but the Essence adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alerts, standard leather, and an optional top-down camera. The Premium trim adds front parking sensors, a Bose 10-speaker audio system, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, power-folding third-row seating, and more advanced safety tech, while Avenir adds 20-inch alloys, an enhanced driver-info screen, rear camera display in the mirror, standard navigation, a sunroof, and a top-down camera.
• Powertrain: The 3.6-liter V6 makes 302 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque, and the Enclave uses a 9-speed transmission. Front-wheel drive is quicker, while AWD slows acceleration a bit but adds traction. The twin-clutch AWD system on the Premier and Avenir trims is the more refined setup.
• Safety package: The Premium trim adds low-speed forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection and auto braking, plus lane-departure warning and intervention. The Essence’s blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alerts help address visibility concerns, and the Avenir adds highway-speed auto braking and adaptive cruise.
• Infotainment: The Enclave comes with an 8-inch touchscreen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, 4G LTE, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and six USB ports. Navigation is not standard on lower trims, and the Avenir is the trim that brings it in.
• Fuel efficiency: The Enclave adds 2-3 mpg in 2018 depending on trim and configuration, and the Premium AWD test vehicle returned 17 mpg city, 25 highway, 20 combined.

Which 2018 Buick Enclave trim should I buy?

The 2018 Buick Enclave is offered in 4 trim levels: Base, Essence, Premium, Avenir.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the value entry point if you want the redesigned Enclave’s quiet cabin, standard LEDs, remote start, 3-zone climate control, rear parking sensors, and the core infotainment setup without stretching your budget. It gives you the essentials, but you give up some of the visibility and safety upgrades that make the higher trims easier to live with.
• Essence: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alerts, standard leather, and the option for AWD and the towing package. If you want the sweet spot between price and everyday usefulness, this is the trim to target.
• Premium: This trim is the one to choose if you want the Enclave to feel more upscale and more advanced, with front parking sensors, a Bose 10-speaker audio system, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel, power-folding third-row seating, and more driver-assistance tech. It’s the right pick if comfort and convenience matter more than keeping the price down.
• Avenir: This is the top-end choice if you want the most luxury and the most equipment, including 20-inch alloys, navigation, a sunroof, a rear camera display in the mirror, and the most advanced available safety and convenience features. It’s the trim for you if you want the Enclave to feel as premium as possible.

The safety-focused upgrades start showing up as you move up the range, so if visibility and driver assistance matter to you, the Essence and Premium are the trims to watch most closely.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Buick Enclave?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and deal activity to make comparison shopping worthwhile.

• Deal availability: 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,206 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.29% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 64.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,009, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Buick Enclave's resale value?

The current average of $16,120 sits slightly below last year's $17,202.

That downward movement suggests the market has become more favorable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price carefully to stay competitive. If you buy well now, you may have less room for appreciation later, so condition and trim choice matter. A cleaner, better-equipped example should hold buyer interest more effectively than a rougher one.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2018 Buick Enclave safe?

The 2018 Buick Enclave earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star ratings for rollover and front passenger impact tests.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The available safety equipment becomes more robust as you move up the trim ladder. The Essence adds blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alerts, while the Premium brings low-speed forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection and auto braking, plus lane-departure warning and intervention. The Avenir adds highway-speed auto braking and adaptive cruise.

One caveat worth keeping in mind is that the expert safety commentary points to visibility and braking concerns, including a long stopping distance from 60 mph.

Should I buy a 2018 Buick Enclave or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.29% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2018 stands out for its redesigned second-generation layout, added space, more power, and less weight.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of value, comfort, and modern features, the 2018 is the right year to focus on. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can still shop carefully within this year’s market and target the lower end of the range, but prioritize condition and equipment so you don’t give up the Enclave’s biggest strengths.
