In 2016, the Bugatti Chiron replaced the Veyron, improving on the previous model in just about every measurable way. It has no major changes for 2018.

Behind the driver is a thoroughly reworked version of the engine that debuted in the Veyron, an 8.0-liter 16-cylinder engine, paired with four turbochargers to create a total of 1,500 horsepower and 1,180 pound-feet of torque. Two of the four turbochargers are electrically driven to reduce drag, and the engine drives all four wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. The 0-60 sprint takes 2.3 seconds and few other cars can come close to the Chiron’s 261 top speed. The EPA rates it at just 9 mpg city, 14 highway, and 11 combined.

Although the Chiron makes heavy use of carbon fiber in the frame and body, it is no lightweight at 4,400 pounds. With that kind of weight and such massive power from the engine, the brakes have a big job to do, so Bugatti fits the Chiron with huge Brembo carbon-ceramic rotors. There is also a large wing in the back that tilts upward under hard braking. The Chiron features a Drift Mode that puts more power to the rear for powersliding purposes. The cabin of the Chiron looks like a seven-figure sports car should, offering 16 interior leather options and no plastic anywhere along with tons of fantastic little details like 1-carat diamonds on the speaker diaphragms and a cooled glovebox.

Endlessly complex, built to exacting standards, and ludicrously fast, the Chiron has plenty to offer.
