The mid-range “M-ish” cars feature more power and get more aggressive styling than their pedestrian counterparts, and the resulting cars are generally more than good enough for the average enthusiast. The M550i turns up the heat on the 5 Series with a turbocharged V8, all-wheel drive, and sharp styling. The car’s in-between status doesn’t apply to its interior and features, however, as it’s got almost everything expected in an $80,000 car.
