Is the 2017 Subaru Outback a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Subaru Outback earns a 4.65/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the safety features, spacious interior, reliability, comfortable ride, and AWD capability. Is the 2017 Subaru Outback reliable?

Owners rate it 4.65/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also emphasizes reliability, along with dependable all-weather performance and a trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers. That combination matters if you want a used vehicle you can count on for commuting, family duty, and seasonal driving. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is choosing a poorly maintained example, so condition and service history should carry real weight.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Subaru Outback?

At 65.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on overall condition, maintenance records, and signs of wear that could affect long-term ownership costs.

What is the 2017 Subaru Outback's resale value?

The current average of $14,267 sits slightly below last year's $14,911.

That softer pricing can help you buy more carefully now, but it also means future resale may depend heavily on how well you preserve the vehicle. If you keep mileage reasonable, maintain it well, and choose a clean-history example, you should be in a better position when it is time to sell. The current market also suggests buyers remain interested in this model, which helps support demand.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.65/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.32% compared with last year.
