How much does the 2017 RAM 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 8.76% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 6,521 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for comparison shopping.

Is the 2017 RAM 1500 a good car?

Yes — the 2017 RAM 1500 earns a 4.82/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its comfortable ride, powerful performance, and variety of features, and many also like the spacious interior and advanced technology. That lines up well with its appeal as a pickup that blends capability with a more car-like driving feel. With 28.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 RAM 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.82/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback points to a truck that many owners find dependable, with praise centered on comfort, performance, and features they can count on day to day. That kind of repeat-positive feedback is encouraging if you want a used truck that should feel familiar and trouble-free over time. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the overall reputation and more about finding a well-kept example with clean history and consistent maintenance.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 RAM 1500?

At 65.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can catch hidden body, frame, or repair issues. Focus on condition details that matter most in a used truck, including signs of wear from towing, interior use, and any uneven panel gaps or paint differences. If a listing looks especially appealing, make sure the paperwork and physical condition match the asking price.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 RAM 1500?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,521 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.76% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 65.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $19,182, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 RAM 1500's resale value?

The current average of $19,205 sits slightly below last year's $21,049.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can make resale a little more competitive if you plan to sell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the truck in strong condition, you may be better positioned to protect value later. The model’s broad appeal and strong owner satisfaction help support demand, even as prices have eased.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.82/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 RAM 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 28.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.76% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.82/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $17,603, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $19,205 average.
• It leans harder into luxury and comfort.

The bottom line: You should start with the 2017 if you want the stronger current-market balance of price, inventory, and owner satisfaction. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2016 is the better value-oriented alternative, especially if you want a more upscale feel and can live with an older model year.
