How much does the 2017 RAM 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 9.34% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 6,399 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2017 RAM 1500 a good car?

Yes — the 2017 RAM 1500 earns a 4.8/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its comfortable ride, powerful performance, and variety of features, and many also like the spacious interior and advanced technology. That fits well if you want a full-size pickup that feels more polished and comfortable for everyday driving, family use, or mixed work-and-life duties. With 32.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.

Is the 2017 RAM 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback highlights a comfortable ride, powerful performance, and a feature-rich cabin, all of which are encouraging signs for used buyers looking for a truck they can count on. The same feedback also points to a roomy interior and strong technology content, which often matters in long-term ownership. For used shoppers, the main risk is buying a truck with hidden wear or deferred maintenance, so condition and service history should carry real weight.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 RAM 1500?

At 65.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection if the truck has any accident history. Focus on overall condition, including signs of body repair, interior wear, and how the truck drives under load and at highway speeds. Because this model year can vary widely by trim and use case, the best example is usually the one with the cleanest history and the most consistent maintenance record.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 RAM 1500?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting a deep buyer’s market.

• Deal availability: 32.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,399 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.34% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 65.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $18,847, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 RAM 1500's resale value?

The current average of $18,847 sits slightly below last year's $20,790.

That kind of price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more affordably now but may also limit near-term upside if you plan to resell soon. For future sellers, the key is to buy a clean, well-kept example so you have less value erosion from condition issues. Trucks with strong owner satisfaction tend to stay in demand, especially when they offer the comfort and feature mix this one is known for.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 RAM 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 32.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.34% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $17,395, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $18,847 average.
• It leans into luxury and refinement with a premium feel.

The bottom line: You should focus on the 2017 if you want the stronger current-market value story and broad owner approval. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2016 is the better price-first alternative, especially if you like its more upscale personality.
