Is the 2017 Porsche Cayenne a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Porsche Cayenne earns a 4.57/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its impressive handling, powerful performance, and upscale interior, and many like how it blends sportiness with luxury. For you, that means it fits especially well if you want a luxury SUV that still feels driver-focused and refined. With 36.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is also a decent amount of market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2017 Porsche Cayenne reliable?

Owners rate it 4.57/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also highlights dependable performance, and the model is described as one of the more reliable choices in the luxury SUV class. That said, long-term ownership risk for used buyers still comes down to maintenance exposure, since repairs can be costly once warranty coverage is gone.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Porsche Cayenne?

At 65.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage or repeated claims. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on suspension, ride quality, and any signs of uneven wear or deferred maintenance. Because this model can be expensive to repair, condition matters more than chasing the lowest asking price.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Porsche Cayenne?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting a deep buyer’s market.

• Deal availability: 36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 593 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.11% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 65.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $19,687, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Porsche Cayenne's resale value?

The current average of $19,693 sits slightly below last year's $22,929.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. If you plan to resell later, the current softness may limit short-term appreciation, but it can also make the vehicle easier to move if you buy well. Strong owner satisfaction and the Cayenne’s upscale reputation can still support demand when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.57/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Porsche Cayenne or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.11% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.57/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 Cayenne is the right pick if you want the newer cabin tech and a strong mix of performance, luxury, and owner satisfaction. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2017 stands out as a balanced choice when you want modern features without giving up the Cayenne’s core driving character.
