Is the 2017 Honda Odyssey reliable?

User feedback highlights its reliable performance and dependable family use, with many owners emphasizing that it feels like a vehicle they can count on. That kind of feedback matters if you plan to keep the van for years and want something that should hold up well in regular family duty.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Honda Odyssey?

At 57.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can catch hidden body, suspension, or wear-related issues. Focus on overall condition, especially signs of cosmetic wear and tear, since that comes up in owner feedback. If a listing looks unusually cheap, make sure the condition and history justify the price.

What is the 2017 Honda Odyssey's resale value?

The current average of $15,444 sits slightly below last year's $17,400.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favorable point, but it also suggests the model has already absorbed some depreciation. If you sell later, your return will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the van has been maintained. Strong demand from family buyers can help support value, especially for clean examples with good history.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Honda Odyssey or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 57.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.24% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $13,984, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $15,444 average.
• It emphasizes comfort, features, and flexibility for busy households.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $19,589, the 2018 costs more than the current year's $15,444 average.
• It brings more features, better handling, improved versatility, and more power.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, owner satisfaction, and available inventory, the 2017 is the primary year to target. If your budget is tighter, the 2016 is the better value play, while the 2018 makes sense if you’re willing to pay more for the newer redesign and added capability.
