You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection from a trusted mechanic. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and how the transmission feels during acceleration and low-speed driving. If anything seems inconsistent, keep shopping.

Should I buy a 2017 Honda HR-V or consider a different year?

Choose the 2017 if:

• 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.34% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• It emphasizes smooth driving, spaciousness, and strong reliability.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $15,786, the 2018 costs more than the current year's $14,437 average.
