Summary

Why it stands out
The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica stands out because it marked a fresh start for Chrysler’s minivan lineup. It was described as a new name ushering in a new era, and Chrysler said it was an entirely new platform from the ground up. The company also invested $2 billion to create a cutting-edge entrant in the minivan market, which gives the Pacifica a more modern identity than a typical family hauler.
That new approach is part of what makes the 2017 Pacifica appealing to buyers who want minivan practicality without feeling like they are settling for old-fashioned design. The source frames it as a vehicle packed with the latest in-car technology and innovations that are unique to the minivan market. Owner feedback echoes that appeal, with praise for its spaciousness, safety features, smooth performance, advanced technology, and entertainment options.
There are also some drawbacks to keep in mind. Owners have reported issues with the center console storage and ongoing reliability problems that can lead to expensive repairs. Even so, the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica’s combination of space, technology, and a clean-sheet redesign is what makes it distinctive in the used minivan market.

I originally loved all the amazing features of this van. However, this quickly deteriorated as it continually needed trips to the shop and left me stranded multiple times. Each time we went to the shop it was over $500 in repairs. We will not be purchasing a Chrysler anytime in the future.

Top feature is crash protection for you and your family. My wife was hit by a stolen car being chased by the police at high speed. She was T-boned and hardly felt the impact. Yes, her car was totaled but no one was injured. She loves gadgets and this car is loaded. We just learned how to let the car park itself. WOW! We are a retired couple and got the 8th seat because we are enjoying our grandchildren during our retirement. We replaced the 2017 with a new Pacifica and love the luxury of it. We had a rental and I was amazed at how spoiled I had become with the handling of the Pacifica.

Rides nice & design of space is brilliant! But the best reason for a 5 start is it saved our lives in an accident the handling of this vehicle cant be compared. This is probably THE safest vehicle there is!

How much does the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $11,890 |
| Year-Round Low | $11,890 |
| Year-Round High | $12,941 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $12,942 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −8.13% |
Prices have softened 8.13% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 1,946 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.
Is the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica a good car?
Generally — 4.3/5 from owners and 8/10 from our experts. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Form and function.
Owners consistently praise the spaciousness, safety features, smooth performance, advanced technology, and entertainment options. That lines up well with the Pacifica’s role as a family-focused minivan that was designed from the ground up to feel more modern than a typical people mover.
The 32.7% share of good or great deals suggests you can still find attractive pricing if you shop carefully.
Is the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica reliable?
Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback points to a vehicle that many owners find dependable and trouble-free in day-to-day family use, especially when it comes to space, comfort, and the overall ownership experience. The expert review also describes it as a clean-sheet minivan built on a new platform, which supports the sense that Chrysler aimed for a more modern, long-term product.
The performance write-up emphasizes a strong V6 and a smooth, confident driving feel, which adds to the impression of a minivan you can count on for regular use. Still, used buyers should plan for a careful inspection and service-history review because reported repair costs can rise when reliability issues show up.
What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Chrysler Pacifica?
At 65.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle-history report so you can separate clean examples from ones with prior damage or repeated claims. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on body condition, interior wear, and any signs of expensive repair history. Because this model is often bought as a family hauler, it also makes sense to pay close attention to how well the cabin features and storage areas have held up.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The LX gives you Bluetooth hands-free calling, a ParkView backup camera, Stow-N-Go seating, and active noise cancelation, while the Touring L adds leather seats, a power rear liftgate, and heated rear seats. The Touring L Plus adds Uconnect Theater with rear touchscreens and media inputs, and the Limited adds front-seat ventilation, navigation, a panoramic sunroof, a built-in vacuum, and 20-inch wheels.
- Powertrain: The Pacifica uses a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 with 287 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive.
- Safety package: The SafetyTec Package adds blind-spot monitoring, ParkSense, and rear cross-path detection. The Advanced SafetyTec Package adds a 360-degree surround-view camera, adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assist, but it is available only on Touring L Plus and Limited trims.
- Infotainment: The base LX uses the smaller Uconnect 5-inch touchscreen, while the larger Uconnect 8.4-inch touchscreen is optional on Touring L Plus and standard on Limited. Uconnect Theater is standard on Touring L Plus and optional on Limited.
- Fuel efficiency: EPA estimates are 18 mpg city, 28 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined.
Which 2017 Chrysler Pacifica trim should I buy?
The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, Touring, Touring L, Touring L Plus, and Limited.
Here's the short version:
- LX: This is the value play if you want the Pacifica’s core strengths without stretching the budget. You still get Bluetooth hands-free calling, a backup camera, Stow-N-Go seating, and active noise cancelation, so it covers the basics well for family use.
- Touring: This trim sits close to the entry point and is worth considering if you want a step up from the LX without jumping too far in price. It keeps the Pacifica’s practical foundation while moving you into a slightly better-equipped middle ground.
- Touring L: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds leather seats, a power rear liftgate, and heated rear seats. If you want a more comfortable daily family vehicle without going all the way to the top, this is the trim to focus on.
- Touring L Plus: Choose this one if rear-seat entertainment and more advanced convenience features matter most. It adds Uconnect Theater with dual rear touchscreens and media inputs, and it is also one of the trims that can get the more advanced safety package.
- Limited: This is the luxury-leaning choice, with front-seat ventilation, navigation, a panoramic sunroof, a built-in vacuum, and 20-inch wheels. It makes sense if you want the most upscale Pacifica experience and are willing to pay for it.
The Advanced SafetyTec Package is available only on Touring L Plus and Limited trims.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Chrysler Pacifica?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop, but the best examples still deserve quick action.
- Deal availability: 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,946 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.13% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 65.6% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $11,890, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica's resale value?
The current average of $11,890 sits slightly below last year's $12,942.
That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at a strong price and keep the vehicle in good condition, you can reduce the impact of future depreciation. Well-equipped family vehicles with broad appeal tend to hold attention better when they remain clean, well maintained, and properly documented.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica safe?
The 2017 Chrysler Pacifica earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.
All models come standard with a full array of front and side impact airbags, the LATCH child-seat anchoring system, and a standard backup camera. The available SafetyTec Package adds blind-spot monitoring, ParkSense, and rear cross-path detection, while the Advanced SafetyTec Package adds a 360-degree surround-view camera, adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assist.
The Advanced SafetyTec Package is limited to Touring L Plus and Limited trims, so buyers who want the most advanced driver-assistance features need to shop above the base models. The lane-keeping system also has some quirks in how it intervenes, so it is worth testing on your own route if that feature matters to you.
Should I buy a 2017 Chrysler Pacifica or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2017 if:
- 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 65.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.13% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- It represents Chrysler’s clean-sheet minivan redesign, with a new platform and a more modern identity than the outgoing Town & Country.
The bottom line: The 2017 Pacifica makes sense if you want the first-year version of Chrysler’s redesigned minivan and you value its mix of space, technology, and family-friendly packaging. If you are especially price-sensitive, the softened market and decent inventory make this a good year to shop carefully and compare condition closely before you buy.
